Abstract

This research aims to conduct a survey review of the moral analysis of panic through citizenship education, taking into account socio-economic empowerment and cultural identity as life values. The quantitative survey method was chosen as the main approach to collect data from respondents who were students from the Faculty of Social, Law and Political Sciences, Yogyakarta State University (FSIHIPOL UNY). This research was carried out from January to March 2024. The analysis carried out will mainly focus on students^ understanding and perceptions of the phenomenon of moral panic that arises in the context of citizenship education. The hope is that the survey results will provide a deeper understanding of the impact of citizenship education on students^ perceptions and attitudes towards moral panic. The results of this research will provide useful insights for stakeholders in designing more effective educational policies to overcome the phenomenon of moral panic and strengthen social, economic and cultural identity empowerment in the campus environment. Through this research, it is recommended that educational institutions need to strengthen curricula and learning strategies in citizenship education to overcome the phenomenon of moral panic. An approach that integrates social empowerment, economics, and cultural identity as part of life values in the context of citizenship education can provide students with a more holistic understanding of the complexity of social problems. Thus, the results of this research provide an important contribution in efforts to increase the effectiveness of citizenship education and strengthen social, economic and cultural identity empowerment in the campus environment and society in general.

Triana Rejekiningsih, Sri Sumaryati, Yudi Ariana

Sebelas Maret University

Abstract

Education in Indonesia is currently facing challenges due to the rise in cases of violence in schools, one of which is bullying. In fact, as a country that supports sustainable development or Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), one of the pillars of which is quality education, Indonesia should be able to guarantee the quality of education by providing a conducive, safe and comfortable educational environment (school climate). To realize quality education, schools must guarantee the fulfillment of children^s rights to a school environment that is safe from violence, especially bullying behavior. The high level of bullying causes relations between school members to become bad, and there is even repeated bullying. It is very important that every school begins to formulate the need to carry out anti-hulling movements by all school members. This research was conducted using a qualitative descriptive approach, because it attempted to explore data on the need to create a safe school environment anti-bullying. The research was conducted at 10 junior high schools in Surakarta City which were divided into 5 sub-district areas in Surakarta City. Data collection was carried out by interviews with PPKn and Guidance Counseling (BK) teachers during Focus Group Discussion activities. After the data is collected, an interactive analysis is carried out, then the validity of the data is checked by triangulating the data, so that the data is truly valid and finally conclusions can be drawn. Research conclusions regarding the need to create safe, anti-bullying schools include: (1) Schools implement the principles of children^s rights, especially opportunities to develop children^s potential according to their talents and interests. (2) The school has a program that supports the development of student potential. (3) Establishing harmonious social relations between school members and especially parents. (4) The school has a policy of preventing violence in the school environment including bullying, disseminating knowledge about violence in schools including bullying, and has a TPPK task force (Preventive Actions for Handling Violence/bullying). (5) Integrating violence prevention in PPKn learning and counseling guidance. (6) The school identifies potential insecurity and prepares an assessment and evaluation of the dangers that cause school insecurity. (7) Schools also identify potential insecurities by providing risk assessment and evaluation tools for the dangers of violence that may occur.

Department of Civic Education, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia

Abstract

The problems that are so complex approach the world of education, one of which is related to changes in the curriculum that is enforced in Indonesia.. Curriculum inconsistencies caused by government policies that are very political have a big impact on society. This study aims to analyze, compare and evaluate the national education curriculum system, especially in the subject of Pancasila Education. This study uses a qualitative approach with the method of literature. The data analysis technique in this study used content analysis, which attempted to describe the results of the analysis conducted by the researcher. The result found in this study is that a good educational curriculum system is when the curriculum has been evaluated and is in accordance with the needs of the 21st century society and the demands of science and technology development. No matter how good the educational curriculum is, if there is no readiness from the teacher as the spearhead of education it will not be successful. The learning system which is the soul of the educational curriculum itself is not in accordance with the desired plan and process. This is because the old problem of curriculum inconsistency and changes in the nomenclature of Pancasila education education subjects due to the egocentricity of the authorities disrupted the existing national education system and standards.

Abstract

The spiritual dimension in the Indonesian citizenship education is not something new. However, the spiritual aspect as one of the civic competences is very specifically strengthened in the 2013 curriculum policy in Indonesia. This paper aims to describe the spiritual context as a component of competence in the subject of civic and Pancasila education (Pendidikan Pancasila dan Kewarganegaraan, PPKn) in the 2013 Curriculum. In addition, this paper aims to analysis the consistency and synchronization of the development of spiritual competence between and other dimensions of competence in core and basic competences, as well as teaching materials and assessment instruments.
This study used the content analysis of student and teacher books of PPKn in Grades 7, 8 and 9 at the junior high school levels- and in grades 10, 11, and 12 at the senior high school levels. The study units in each teacher and student book are the consistency between core competencies, basic competencies, development of teaching materials in student books, and spiritual attitude assessment instruments in each student book, as well as those shown in the teacher book.
The results of this study shown that: firstly, spiritualism as a competency component is interpreted as religious feelings and behavior according to the provisions of recognized religions in Indonesia, as adhered to by students. Spirituality is identified as religion or religious beliefs, not the ethos or national spirit of the founding fathers. Secondly, spiritualism is interpreted as material that contains aspects of religious behavior, religion, religious piety. Assessment instruments, like social attitudes, were developed following the counselling model, without a complete design as it has be done in civic knowledge.

The Profile of Pancasila Students Integrating Character Education Towards Student Attitudes Strengthened by Environmental Psychology
Muhammad Mona Adha, Eska Prawisudawati Ulpa

Universitas Lampung

Abstract

The Profile of Pancasila Student strengthens students^ attitudes and behaviours supported by the conditions of the school and home environment that place students to always be within the corridor of good (commendable) rules and behaviour. The Profile of Pancasila Student activity provides students with an understanding of themselves to increase their self-skill competencies in the future as Indonesian citizens with a strong national identity. This qualitative research with an ethnographic approach is able to explore and provide a specific picture of the conditions of understanding and changes in student behaviour in daily social interactions. The capacity of students with a positive normative environmental design makes students increasingly understand what to do as an individual to avoid conflict not only with themselves but also with others. Behaviour that is also influenced by the surrounding environment (environmental psychology) directs students^ attitudes and responsibilities to be more independent and have good self-control. Environmental psychology that is not formed properly can result in differences and understanding and attitudes shown by individual behaviour, thus causing individuals to receive responses, feedback, stigma, and perceptions of good and bad personal attitudes by the surrounding community. Developing a critical understanding of how our actions shape the world and how our environment impacts us. The government and society have a responsibility to create good environmental psychology, in accordance with norms, which is contemporary, supported by regulations and high discipline to create smart and good citizens in the space of globalization and social change which continues to develop.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the internalization of national identity values in students amidst the challenges of rapidly developing information and technology. This is based on the phenomenon of the very rapid development of information technology which has become a value challenge for the younger generation who have gradually abandoned local values as the identity of the Indonesian nation. This research uses a descriptive method using interview techniques, observation and documentation studies. Research subjects included students, the MKDU Jatidiri Bangsa team, and the academic section of Buana Perjuangan Karawang University. The results of the research show that students are facing a phase of degradation of national identity values which can be seen in behavior and grammar which no longer reflect national values. In responding to these challenges, the National Identity Course has become a separate curriculum created by the Buana Struggle University, Karawang. The implementation of this course includes conventional learning in the classroom, field projects by visiting and exploring historical values and national struggles, as well as cultural workshops. Through this learning strategy, students not only receive one-way material but are also given the opportunity to directly experience images of events and express them so that the internalization process does not only come from lecturer information but also from what students have experienced through projects and workshops.

Abstract

The People^s Consultative Assembly (MPR) is a unique institution within the Indonesian government system that merges Western democratic values with Islamic deliberative principles. This study examines the genealogy and evolution of the MPR, focusing on how it integrates Western democratic elements and Islamic deliberative traditions, and assesses the impact of this integration on Indonesia^s democratization process.
Methods involved historical analysis and qualitative evaluation of the MPR^s structure and functions from Indonesia^s independence to the reform era.
Results indicate significant transformations in the MPR^s role over time. The incorporation of Western democratic values is evident in the representative nature and functions of the MPR, while Islamic deliberative principles are reflected in its collective and inclusive decision-making processes.
Discussion highlights the challenges in maintaining a balance between these two democratic systems, particularly amidst evolving political dynamics. The MPR serves as a hybrid institution, combining Western democratic frameworks with Islamic traditions, providing a unique model for Indonesian democracy. Balancing these elements remains crucial for maintaining the integrity of Indonesian state administration. The principle of sovereignty, viewed as a divine mandate, underlines the importance of respecting the rights of diverse communities to ensure societal and state survival.

Abstract

The problem of this research is based on the challenges of families in maintaining diversity amidst the rapid flow of globalization and social change. Many families in Indonesia are beginning to be eroded by foreign cultures that are not in line with the noble values of the nation, resulting in a decline in the sense of unity, tolerance, and harmony. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method from the phenomenon of several families who have succeeded in implementing local wisdom and Pancasila values in their daily lives. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis. The results of the study indicate that family education that integrates local wisdom with Pancasila values is able to shape individual characters who respect differences, uphold humanitarian values, and promote a peaceful and harmonious life.
Families that implement this educational model show an increase in aspects of togetherness, tolerance, and mutual cooperation. Children who are raised in an environment rich in local wisdom and Pancasila values tend to appreciate diversity more and contribute positively to society. Regarding the differences that arise in everyday life, which are often balanced by a high sense of tolerance and mutual respect. A concrete example of this difference can be seen in family dynamics, where the father and mother come from different tribes, use different mother tongues and father^s languages, and serve a variety of dishes. All of this creates diversity in the family environment. As children, we have the opportunity to feel and learn about these differences within the family, and can explore two different cultural customs from both parents on how to parent.
The results of this study show that the implementation of family education based on local wisdom with Pancasila values is very effective in realizing diversity in realizing peaceful schools.

TWIN TOLERATIONS STRATEGY IN PREVENTING RADICALISM AND TERRORISM THROUGH THE PRACTICE OF LEARNING CITIZENSHIP
Anis Suryaningsih, Raharjo, Muhammad Bagus Adi Wicaksono

Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Sebelas Maret, Surakarta, Indonesia

Abstract

This study aims to find out the strategy of twin tolerations in preventing radicalism and terrorism through the practice of learning citizenship and to find out the obstacles of twin tolerations in preventing radicalism and terrorism. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method, so the research method uses interviews, observations, and documentation. The data analysis used was interactive data analysis, and the research was conducted at Universitas Sebelas Maret. The study results show that the strategy of twin tolerations in preventing radicalism and terrorism is effective by providing students with an understanding of twin tolerations. Then after students understand the concept of twin tolerances, they are required to implement it in their daily lives. Through this, it can prevent the development of radicalism and terrorism, especially in universities. The obstacle experienced in providing understanding related to twin tolerations to students is that there are still some students who are apathetic towards the interests of the state, so in their attitude, they are still classified as intolerant. Students^ implementation of the concept of twin tolerations is still not optimal, so in anticipation of the development of radicalism and terrorism in higher education, it is not optimal.

Jl. Pemuda Komplek UNJ Rawamangun Jakarta Timur 13220

Abstract

Pancasila education is a mandatory subject in the curriculum in Indonesia which has begun to be given from primary, secondary to higher education. These lessons are often considered boring and less interesting for some students due to several factors. This study tries to uncover data related to Pancasila Education learning in grade 8 of high school. This research was carried out with a qualitative approach through the case study method. Data were obtained using questionnaires, observations and interviews with students. The research respondents were taken two classes out of six classes at SMP Labschool Jakarta around 66 students or 33% of the 8th grade population. Grade 8 is an ideal middle class to be used as a respondent because it is not an early class that does not have much experience, and not a final class that already has a burden of final exams and further studies. The research lasted for two months from July to August 2024. From the research, it was revealed that students still liked Pancasila Education lessons with interesting learning and using digital technology, not much memorization and there were games in learning so that students were not bored. Monotonous learning and many tasks make students bored with Pancasila Education learning.

Dynamics of Political Education and Democratic Participation in 3T (Frontier, Outermost, and Disadvantaged) Areas: A Case Study of Mentawai Senior High School
Cici Nur Azizah Ridwan Al Rafni Suryanef

Universitas Negeri Padang

Abstract

As one of the regions facing significant geographical and social challenges, Mentawai becomes an important representation in understanding how political education can influence democratic participation in remote areas. The research method used is qualitative with a case study approach, where data is collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis. The results show that political education at SMAN 2 Sikakap still experiences various obstacles, such as limited resources, lack of access to information, and low political awareness among students. Nonetheless, the existing education program has made a positive contribution in improving basic knowledge about democracy and the importance of political participation. Student participation in school democracy activities, such as the election of student council leaders, shows enthusiasm, although it does not yet fully reflect broader political participation in society.
This study concludes that despite significant challenges, political education in the 3T (Frontier, Outermost, and Disadvantaged) areas, particularly at SMAN 2 Sikakap, has great potential to shape a younger generation that is more aware of the importance of democratic participation. Recommendations are given for improving the quality of political education through teacher training, provision of relevant materials, and increased access to political information for students. Thus, more effective political education is expected to increase democratic participation in remote areas such as Mentawai.

Abstract

The Suku Anak Dalam community in Sekaladi Village, Jambi, faces inequality in access to education, which should be a fundamental right of every citizen as mandated by the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, specifically Article 31, Paragraph (1), which states that every citizen has the right to education. This disparity has resulted in delays in educational development among the Suku Anak Dalam, which in turn affects their understanding of national values and their human rights as Indonesian citizens. To address this issue, the Village Innovation Program team from the University of Jambi implemented an educational program called ^Pancasila School.^ This program aims to enhance the understanding of Suku Anak Dalam children regarding the values of Pancasila and the concept of Indonesia, so they can better recognize and internalize their national identity. This research was conducted using qualitative methods with an interactive and case study approach. The research location was in Sekaladi Village Pelempang, Mestong District, Muaro Jambi Regency, Jambi Province. The results show that the implementation of Pancasila School includes various activities such as literacy and numeracy, community service, civil administration services, and the dissemination of human rights reinforcement through the legal system. This program is expected to be a means for Suku Anak Dalam children to not only become more familiar with Pancasila and Indonesia but also to develop their critical and participatory abilities as sovereign Indonesian citizens. It also serves as input for policymakers to provide broader access to education for the Suku Anak Dalam community in Jambi.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of public awareness in waste management and wetland conservation in Banjarmasin, focusing on four waste disposal sites along the roadside that often cause waste accumulation and disrupt traffic. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach to gain in-depth insights into community perspectives and experiences related to waste management and its impacts on wetlands. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews with 15 informants at each location, including residents around the temporary disposal site (TPS), sanitation workers, and local officials. In addition, field observations were conducted to determine the condition of the temporary disposal site (TPS) and community interactions with the facilities. Data analysis was conducted using a thematic approach to identify relevant patterns and themes. The findings reveal that public awareness of the importance of proper waste disposal and its impacts on wetland conservation is still low. This study highlights that communities often lack knowledge about the long-term consequences of waste accumulation, and inadequate waste disposal facilities contribute to this problem. Furthermore, there is a lack of environmental education and low compliance with waste disposal regulations. This study concludes that improving waste management and support for wetland conservation is a greater effort in public education and policy improvement. Recommendations provided include the development of more effective environmental education programs and the improvement of temporary waste disposal facilities as well as improving waste disposal facilities in vulnerable areas.

Teacher Engagement in Education as Sustainability: Integrating Anti-Corruption Values into Learning in Remoted Areas
Monica Tiara, Maria Montessori, Azwar Ananda, Irwan

Universitas Negeri Padang

Abstract

This article discusses the implementation of anti-corruption education in Indonesia as a form of sustainable education. The implementation of anti-corruption education currently does not stand alone, but is integrated into all learning materials. The integration is carried out by developing knowledge, skills and emphasizing character formation through the development of anti-corruption ethics and values. This is a mix method research with a Sequental Exploratory Design model. The findings of the study indicate that the integration of anti-corruption education has different characteristics from Pancasila education. In anti-corruption education, teachers are required to be able to ^empower^ students to be involved in prevention efforts so that they do not become actors of corruption. Meanwhile, in Pancasila education learning, anti-corruption becomes part of the discussion of Pancasila values with an abstract concept of values. This integration has implications for students^ difficulty in connecting the concept of values taught by teachers with the reality so that students assume that these values are only limited to prohibitions without being interpreted holistically. For this reason, through this study it was found that the involvement of teachers in education as a continuation in the integration of anti-corruption education lies in the teacher who must be a role model amidst the limited facilities and learning resources obtained by students in remoted areas.

Universitas Negeri Padang

Abstract

Character education cannot be universally applied without considering the specific contexts of students, teachers, and social environments. Each area has its own unique characteristics, such as in coastal regions where students may come from socially disadvantaged backgrounds, such as dysfunctional families and challenging social environments. Additionally, it is crucial to consider how children interact within their family and community settings. Finally, the competencies of teachers and the challenges they face must also be taken into account. This study aims to analyze the challenges teachers face in developing student character in coastal areas of Padang. The research employs a qualitative methodology, utilizing data collection methods such as observation, interviews, document studies, and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs). Data analysis follows the Miles & Huberman technique, including data reduction, data display, interpretation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the challenges teachers face in character education are highly complex. These dilemmas encompass social, economic, and familial backgrounds, as well as living environments that influence students^ character when they enter school. Teachers must navigate the alignment of students^ needs with curriculum demands and professional competencies. The findings of this study could provide recommendations for policymakers to address various aspects of children^s needs in coastal areas, including curriculum requirements, student placement through zoning systems, and other dilemmatic issues faced by teachers

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of a value-based Gotong Royong Online Collaborative Learning (OCL) model on students^ learning outcomes. The OCL model is based on collaboration among students through digital platforms, encouraging interaction, discussion, and joint problem-solving. The research method used is a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test control group. The research sample consists of 72 students divided into experimental and control groups. The results show a significant improvement in learning outcomes for the group that used the Gotong Royong value-based OCL model compared to the group that used the discussion method. This improvement in learning outcomes is indicated by higher post-test scores in the experimental group. Additionally, the Gotong Royong value-based OCL model was also found to enhance students^ collaborative skills and active participation in the online learning process. The implications of this study suggest that the application of the Gotong Royong value-based OCL model can be an effective alternative to improve learning outcomes in the context of online learning.

Abstract

The present study attempts to provide a framework for the design of democratic learning that can enhance civic literacy in Civic Education. The gap between current teaching practices and expected outcomes in fostering students^ civic literacy, implies the need for a synthesis of democratic education and Civic education in the teaching and learning process into a comprehensive learning design to obtain the antithesis of the gap. This research uses the design and development method (D&D) with an emphasis on qualitative exploration. The instruments used in this study included semi-structured interviews, observation checklists, questionnaire, and reflective journals to document participants^ experiences. In this study, qualitative data analysis techniques were used to interpret insights gathered from research instrument used. The findings of this study reveal that the variation of learning activities must be accompanied by a proportional diversity of learning resources, and structured and planned learning supporters, so that they can meet the orientation of student-cantered learning. The lack of proportionality results in a gap between teaching practices and expected outcomes, because the orientation of student-centered learning practices is not implemented properly. This learning design is oriented towards fulfilling student-centered learning with comprehensive instructional practice through synchronization of learning activities, learning resources and learning support that are controlled in monitoring and evaluation in fulfilling the goals of democracy in education, so that it can improve students^ civic literacy. Through this democratic learning design the gap between theoretical ideals and practice can be bridged in fostering informed and active citizens.

Abstract

The issue in this study relates to the low critical thinking skills of students. During the Civics learning process, students exhibited hesitation and lack of confidence in expressing their opinions, fear when questioned, anxiety, confusion about what to do, and a tendency to let things happen without taking action. This strategy is applied to improve critical thinking skills using the Value Clarification Technique through audio-visual media. The research method used is quasi-experimental with a nonequivalent control group design and a quantitative approach. The research subjects consisted of 45 eighth-grade students from Class VIII B at SMP Ciledug Al-Musaddadiyah, Garut. The results showed that the average pretest score was only 60, while after the implementation of the Value Clarification Technique through audio-visual media, the average posttest score increased to 85.37. Thus, it can be concluded that learning using the Value Clarification Technique through audio-visual media can improve students^ critical thinking skills in the Civics subject at SMP Ciledug Al-Musaddadiyah, Garut. The observed critical thinking abilities in students include the ability to express opinions without fear of being wrong, the courage to speak in front of others, and the ability to identify and solve problems according to the topics taught by the teacher.

Abstract

Religious character is one of the goals of education which is to be pious to God Almighty, one of the aspects used to form religious character is through scouting activities by implementing Dasadharma scouting values. This study aims to obtain information on the implementation of Dasadharma scouting values as an effort to form religious character in students in Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 of Gorontalo City. This study uses qualitative research methods with a descriptive approach. The results of this study are that (1) Scouting activities in Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 of Gorontalo City have Dasadharma values (2) scout activities describe religious character i.e. start each Scout activity with prayer (3) but what became an obstacle in the field turned out to be the implementation of religious character less than optimal. It can be seen that when it is prayer time, many students are late to perform prayers on time in the Madrasah Mosque, this is due to the lack of attention from the Guru when entering the prayer time especially the Ashar prayer. Then the students^ attention is too focused on the scouting activities, so the salutation is not timely.

Universitas Negeri Jakarta

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of character education on developing character-based leadership among students. Despite the recognized importance of character education, its specific role in fostering leadership qualities remains underexplored. This research aims to bridge this gap by examining the dynamics between character education and leadership development in students.
A comprehensive literature review was conducted, focusing on peer-reviewed articles and scholarly books published in the last decade. The study employed a systematic review methodology, including content analysis and thematic synthesis of the selected literature.
The analysis revealed four key attributes of character-based leadership: honesty, forward vision, inspiration, and competence. These attributes were found to synergistically build a leader^s credibility. The study also identified trust as the core element of leadership, primarily cultivated through tangible examples set by educators. Furthermore, the research uncovered that character-based leadership serves a dual function: as a behavioral model and as an effective instrument in students^ character education.
These findings contribute significantly to understanding the relationship between character education and student leadership development. The study concludes that integrating character education into leadership development programs can effectively prepare a future generation of leaders with integrity. Further empirical research is recommended to validate these findings across diverse educational contexts.
