Development of Flipbook Learning Media for Citizens Rights and Obligations to Improve Students Civic Literacy Skills in Senior High School

Abstract

As time progresses, the civic literacy skills of high school students need to be improved. Civic literacy skills have not been fully developed among students. This is due to several factors, one of which is the lack of engaging teaching media used by teachers during the learning process. This research aims to develop flipbook learning media with the material ^Rights and Obligations of Citizens^ to enhance civic literacy among high school students. This type of research is R&D (Research and Development) using the ADDIE development model. Data collection techniques include validation questionnaires for media experts, subject matter and language experts, practitioners or teachers, as well as student response questionnaires. The flipbook media on ^Rights and Obligations of Citizens^ that has been developed was tested at Satya Wacana Christian High School and Pabelan 1 Public High School. The results of this research are: (1) the flipbook learning media is declared ^valid^ based on an average rating from media experts of 85, subject matter and language experts of 84.50, and practitioners/teachers of 84.75- (2) student responses to the flipbook learning media are positive with an average large group student response score of 75.25, small group response score of 76.25, and individual response score of 83.75- (3) a comparison of the average pretest score of 72 and posttest score of 86 shows an increase in students^ civic literacy- (4) based on practical tests and student response questionnaires, this flipbook media is more effective when used by students individually rather than in groups. The research findings prove that the development of the ^Rights and Obligations of Citizens^ flipbook media is feasible to be applied in the teaching and learning process and provides meaningful learning experiences to enhance civic literacy.
