Strengthening Civic Entrepreneurs for Socio-Economic Empowerment in Civic Education in Indonesia Meiwatizal Trihastuti, Yayuk Hidayah
STKIP Pasundan, Cimahi
Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta
Abstract
This study explores the role of civic education in fostering socio-economic empowerment through strengthening civic entrepreneurs in Indonesia. As Indonesia navigates complex socio-economic challenges, the integration of civic education into the curriculum is increasingly recognized as a vital component in cultivating active, engaged citizens capable of driving economic and social change. This research examines how civic education can be leveraged to enhance the skills and capacities of civic entrepreneurs-individuals who harness innovative approaches to address community issues and promote socio-economic development.
The study employs a mixed-methods approach, including qualitative interviews with educators, civic entrepreneurs, and policy-makers, alongside quantitative surveys assessing the impact of civic education programs. Key findings indicate that while current civic education initiatives lay a foundational understanding of democratic principles and community involvement, there is a significant opportunity to incorporate practical entrepreneurial skills into the curriculum. By doing so, educational programs can better prepare students to engage in entrepreneurial activities that address local challenges and drive sustainable development.
The paper argues for a more integrated approach that combines civic knowledge with entrepreneurial training, emphasizing the need for curriculum reforms and targeted support for emerging civic entrepreneurs. Recommendations include enhancing teacher training, developing partnerships with local businesses and organizations, and fostering experiential learning opportunities. Ultimately, this research underscores the potential of civic education to not only promote democratic values but also empower individuals with the skills necessary to contribute to socio-economic advancement in Indonesia

Abstract
The cultivation of national character values in Pancasila and Civics education (PPKn) has a very important role to form a young generation with a nationalist spirit. However, the current problem is the lack of introduction and exemplification of the nation^s founding figures among students. In fact, the founding figures of the Indonesian state have a strong nationalist character and a solid national vision. Unfortunately, their life histories and contributions to nation building are rarely studied in Civics learning in the classroom. As a result, many students lack a strong national character and are not inspired by the values of nationalism. This research aims to examine effective strategies to instill nationalist character values through stories of national figures in Civics learning. This research uses the literature review method to review various literature on the role of national figures in character education and the application of learning strategies based on character stories in Civics classes. The study shows that by telling inspiring stories about the struggles and values of the founding figures, such as Soekarno, Mohammad Hatta, Mohammad Natsir and Ki Hajar Dewantara, students can be more inspired and motivated to develop a strong national character and nationalist attitude. The results of this study recommend that Civics teachers can involve stories about the struggles, thoughts, and values of national figures into learning materials as a means to strengthen the value of national character among students. Thus, Civics learning is not only a means of sharing knowledge but also building quality character.

Abstract
The democracy of the Indonesian nation is based on deliberation and consensus, not liberal democracy or communist democracy. Indonesian democracy, also known as Pancasila democracy, is rooted in collective life carried out for the common good, not for the interests of groups or individuals. This research aims to explain that deliberation and consensus are the implementation of democratic values in life. A fundamental skill in conducting deliberation and consensus is effective communication. Through communication, any issue can be discussed and a consensus can be reached. This study uses a literature review approach. The results of this research show that the implementation of democracy in Indonesia occurs through deliberation and consensus, which is implemented through effective communication skills. It is effective because it always upholds the values of divinity, humanity, and nationalism, in order to achieve a socially just Indonesian society. There is a need for a reconceptualization of the deliberation and consensus model in the Indonesian state, starting with who is eligible to be a participant in deliberation, as well as the communication requirements that must be followed in the deliberation and consensus process.

STRUCTURE, NORM and LIFESTYLE (SNL): THE RECONSTRUCTION OF SACRED FOREST MYTH AS SOCIAL CAPITAL OF GREEN ECONOMY IN INDONESIA Susi Fitria Dewi, Tetti Eka Purnama, Febri Yulika
Universitas Negeri Padang
Institut Seni Indonesia padangpanjang
Abstract
The myths of sacred forest can be reconstructed into environmental protection strategies by integrating three elements namely structure (S), norm (N), and lifestyle (L). This paper aims to identify the types of myth of sacred forest, analyse factors influencing the myth, and develop strategies to protect the environment based on the sacred forest myths. By using a phenomenology research design, interviewing eleven informants, analysing YouTube videos, and having a focused group discussion, this study finds three myths regarding sacred forest. These three myths were preserved due to structural and cultural factors that protect them. Myths can be reconstructed into social capital by developing three strategies: strengthening the organisational structure of the indigenous society (S), implementing norm sanction (N), and promoting a simple lifestyle (L). This study concluded that the SNL reconstruction can be an alternative to shaping environmental protection behaviour and preventing nature exploitation which is in line with green economy objectives commenced by the Indonesian government.

Abstract
The Suku Anak Dalam is an indigenous community from the Jambi Province, residing in forested areas and spread across several regions such as Batanghari Regency, Merangin, Sarolangun, Muaro Jambi, and others. One group of the Suku Anak Dalam resides in Desa Pelempang, Mestong District, Muaro Jambi Regency. This research is based on a statement from Datok Rahman, the Traditional Leader (Pemangku Adat) of the Suku Anak Dalam in Desa Pelempang, who stated that after Indonesia^s independence, the term ^Tumenggung^ was replaced by ^Pemangku Adat.^ This study employs a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through direct interviews with the Traditional Leaders of the Suku Anak Dalam in Desa Pelempang. The research focuses on the leadership of the Traditional Leaders within the Suku Anak Dalam community in Desa Pelempang and explores whether there has been any change in their duties and authority after the highest leadership term changed from Tumenggung to Pemangku Adat. The results of the study indicate that only the term has changed, while the duties and authority of the Pemangku Adat remain the same as those of the Tumenggung in the past. In other words, the Pemangku Adat still holds the highest leadership position within the Suku Anak Dalam community in Desa Pelempang. The selection of the Pemangku Adat is based on lineage, willingness, and the capabilities of the successor, as well as the approval of the community. The role and responsibilities of the Pemangku Adat may vary across different communities and cultures.

Ultimately, this research underscores the potential of civic education to not only promote democratic values but also empower individuals with the skills necessary to contribute to socio-economic advancement in Indonesia.

However, the assistance received certainly cannot meet all needs and all even the nature only temporary. Therefore, the affected people cannot forever depend on the assistance provided and must work on their own to survive. The purpose of this study is to find out the various losses experienced by residents due to floods and landslides, and the strategies they take to maintain the continuity of life. The research was carried out in Patikalain Village, Hantakan District, Hulu Sungai Tengah Regency. This village was chosen because it is the village most affected by floods and landslides. The study used a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. The research respondents were the Meratus Dayak Tribe which were selected purposively. Data was collected by using observation, interview and documentation techniques. The data obtained were analyzed using an interactive model from Miles and Huberman. The results showed that the various losses suffered by residents due to floods and landslides, can be grouped into two parts. The first are residents who have lost their homes, agricultural land and plantation land. Second, residents who only lost agricultural land and plantations. In an effort to maintain survival, the strategy taken is to manage efficient and save on the assistance provided by various parties, build relationships with family and relatives, optimally manage the remaining plantation and agricultural land and look for work in other areas.

Local Wisdom of Siwalu Tali in Democratic Education: An Ethnopedagogical Approach as a Strategy for Character Development Based on Culture Karlin G A Manik (b*) Leni Anggraeni
a*Department of Citizenship Education, Indonesian Education University
Abstract
This study aims to explore the role of local wisdom, Siwalu Tali, in democratic education through an ethnopedagogical approach as a strategy for character development rooted in cultural values. Siwalu Tali, which encompasses values of solidarity, deliberation, and peaceful conflict resolution, aligns with participatory democratic principles and is seen as capable of strengthening student character in Indonesia. Integrating local cultural values in education is expected to instill a more contextual and profound understanding of democracy. This qualitative study employs in-depth interviews and participatory observation, involving Batak Toba community leaders. Findings indicate that the integration of Siwalu Tali values into an ethnopedagogical curriculum positively impacts student character development. Values such as deliberation, solidarity, and tolerance are internalized through various subjects and extracurricular activities, enhancing students^ communication skills, peaceful problem-solving abilities, and inclusive attitudes in social interactions. Moreover, this approach helps students perceive democracy as a culturally embedded practice rather than an abstract concept. The results underscore the importance of an ethnopedagogical approach in democratic education, especially in regions rich in local cultural heritage like Batak Toba. Local wisdom-based education not only enriches educational content but also strengthens the student character needed for inclusive democratic life. The integration of Siwalu Tali into democratic education offers opportunities for more relevant learning in students^ daily lives, particularly in diversity and conflict resolution. This study suggests that Siwalu Tali values significantly contribute to democratic education and character development. The ethnopedagogical approach, connecting the curriculum with local culture, proves effective in shaping tolerant, inclusive, and dialogue-oriented students.

Abstract
The research is motivated by cases of bullying that occurred in schools in Maluku with deliberate reasons, or the local term ^Basangaja^. By examining the cultural concept of ^Basangaja^, this research aims to identify specific forms of bullying that may appear in the practice of ^Basangaja^ in the school environment. Basangaja^ is a cultural practice that depicts familiarity to strengthen group ties in Maluku society. However, in this modern era, the ^Basangaja^ culture has begun to lose its meaning and has characteristics similar to bullying, both in verbal and non-verbal forms. Forms of verbal bullying such as ^Bamaki^, ^Muka Itam^, ^Panoso^, ^Rambu Karibo^, ^Kaskadu^, ^Kasta Badaki^, and ^Mongo-Mongo^, while non-verbal forms include ^Bakalai^, ^Palungku^, and ^Labrak^. The research used a case study method with a qualitative approach. Data were collected through interviews with students and teachers, as well as direct observation in the school environment to explain the actual conditions that occurred. The results of the research show that the practice of ^Basangaja^ is often not identified as bullying by the perpetrators or victims because it is wrapped in a cultural context and considered part of social learning. However, this has a negative impact on the sense of security of students who are victims and affects their desire to go to school. This research recommends the importance of a culture-based approach in dealing with bullying, which involves the active participation of teachers, families, and local communities to change the perception of ^Basangaja^ in order to create an inclusive school environment.

Guardians of Nature: Community Participation in Environmental Preservation in Blitar Siti Utami Dewi Ningrum, Sukirno Hadi Raharjo, Faizal Akhmad Adi Masbukhin
Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Terbuka, Cabe Raya Street, Pondok Cabe, Pamulang, Tangerang Selatan 15437, Banten - Indonesia
Abstract
Global climate change has seriously threatened environmental balance, particularly in rural areas that depend on natural resources. The absence of adequate state support in addressing local environmental challenges often compels communities to seek independent solutions. Krisik Village in Blitar exemplifies how residents directly contribute to environmental conservation. This study examines the critical role of villagers in conservation efforts through three main approaches: forest management as jaga wana (forest guardianship), utilizing livestock waste for biogas production, and applying the biosaka method in organic farming. Local leaders are key in initiating and leading these environmental preservation efforts in response to the lack of governmental policy support. This research employs a qualitative case study approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews with community leaders and direct field observations. Initial findings reveal that community awareness, led by these three key figures, has successfully fostered sustainable practices that mitigate the impacts of climate change and enhance the village^s well-being. The community participation model in Krisik Village could serve as an example for other rural areas in tackling climate change through local innovation, even in the face of state absence.

This study uses a qualitative research method with a case study research design. Data collection techniques use semi-structured interviews and passive participant ob-servation as well as literature reviews. The sampling technique used the snowball sampling technique. The results of the study revealed that at the promotion stage, the waste used as raw material was organic waste found in the Ciliwung River which was then collected and organic waste collected from the waste bank in each RT. Then it was collected and processed into eco enzyme by community mem-bers. The packaging stage was carried out by the PKK village to be immediately distributed to each RT to assist with marketing around the community environ-ment. Meanwhile, online marketing channels have not been activated or partici-pated in UMKM exhibitions, so that product brand awareness has not reached the wider community
