Abstract

This study aims to obtain information about the local wisdom of the Banjar Tribe for daily water consumption. This study uses qualitative methods. The findings of this study indicate that only a few local communities in the Banjar tribe in the Upper Kalimantan River use Tajau filtered water for daily consumption. On the other hand, people actually still believe that consuming filtered water with Tajau stones without boiling first does not cause disease. These results are proven by the results of testing the chemical-physical parameters of the water from the stone filter Tajau which shows that the water is suitable for consumption. The local wisdom of the Banjar people in Hulu Sungai South Kalimantan in using filtered water Tajau for consumption is proven to meet the drinking water quality requirements. Thus, the local wisdom of using the stone Tajau holds an interesting potential for further research to find out the effect of the types of rock used so that it can guarantee the quality of filtered water.

Abstract

Raden Saleh (1811-1880) was the first Indonesian during the Dutch colonial period to study painting in Europe for 23 years (1829-1852). He managed to become a famous painter in Europe in the 19th century. The cultural products of colonized societies in the perspective of Postcolonial Theory tend to show ambivalence. Contains resistance and at the same time surrender to the invaders. This paper intends to find signs of ambivalence in Bull Hunting painting by Raden Saleh in 1855. The data collection technique uses semiotic analysis of denotative and connotative meanings. The results of the study found that painting contained ambivalence: on the one hand it showed the success of imitating the techniques and styles of Western painting, on the other hand it contained satire to his own group (Javanese aristocrats) who were an extension of the colonizers in exploiting the indigenous population. Not the real strength depicted in the painting, but the dilemma, and the dangerous position.

Abstract

A brand is an image or name that can be used to identify a product or company on the market. In Indonesia, the Trademark Law is regulated by Law Number 20 Year 2016 concerning Trademarks and Geographical Indications. In addition to national regulations, Indonesia is also bound by international brand regulations. IAIN Syekh Nurjati

Abstract

Epistemological issues that escape the attention of intellectuals, namely spiritual epistemology. Spiritual epistemology is a medium for obtaining spiritual knowledge. Western intellectuals in modern times (15-18 AD), especially from the flow of rationalism, empiricism, and positivism, do not believe in spiritual epistemology, because it is seen as unscientific. In the Nusantara the tradition of exploring spiritual knowledge is very fertile. However, all educational institutions have been controlled by Modern Western epistemology. The impact is that all formal and non-formal educational institutions, emphasize training in cognitive and psychomotor intelligence, rather than spiritual intelligence. Meanwhile, human nature is physical reason and spiritual. Perfect humans are intelligent people who experience senses, reason, and spiritual. Inequality in the process of human intelligence makes the way of thinking and human behavior unbalanced so that only concerned with worldly life and forget the afterlife. This study uses a qualitative approach, the primary data source is scholars and spiritualists in the Cirebon region, emphasizing the method of interviews and in-depth observations, as well as the reductive and display analysis methods. To find data validly, the writer uses the theory of intuition epistemology Fritjof Capra and Seyyed Hossein Nasr. The research findings state that Indonesia is a religious country and at the same time a country that develops science strongly. This indicates that the epistemology of ratio, empirical, and spiritual epistemology, flourished in this country. However, in educational institutions the truth of knowledge that is logical and empirical is seen to be more scientific, while the truth of spiritual knowledge is seen to be unscientific. On the other side of society, the writer finds various witnesses about the existence of spiritual knowledge, how to obtain it and also the truth of spiritual knowledge. Spiritual knowledge can be achieved by humans in various ways and rituals that are personal.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country adopting democracy. It gets support not only from the executive, legislative, and judicial institutions, but also mass media. Many scholars argue mass media as the fourth pillar of democracy. However, the process of communication through mass media in Indonesia get constraint resulting from media structure dan the culture of audience consuming information. This paper argues that mass media is not democracy fourth pillar anymore. To support our argument, we collected data from research papers, document regarding structure of Mass media in Indonesia today, and media mogul involvement in politics. We find that mass media in Indonesia become a part of political oligarchy. It gives an implication to homogeneity of news-making. Mass media became political interest extension rather than democracy one. In contrast, by observing political activities on new media (Twitter, websites), we find that publics use them to express political activism during democracy process (presidential election 2019) in Indonesia. We conclude that democracy needs the media as its pillar. However, the pillar is not reduced to ^mass media^. It is one of many species from genus of media. We maintain pillar of democracy is media, instead of mass media.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic is a ^mega risk^ affecting all aspects of life on a global scale. This risk is further strengthened by the development of information and communication technology that enables everyone to have easy access to information sources. This article aims to understand the implications of the Covid-19 pandemic to the risk society. Risk society is a global discourse initiated by Ulrich Beck to show that in modern society every event arises with consequences of the risks created by humans themselves. Through a qualitative approach using triangulation techniques, the Covid-19 pandemic was examined in a socio-religious perspective to understand deeply about the phenomenon occurring in society. The focus of the discussion consists of three parts: first, the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the changes in the community structure- second, the cultural dynamics in risk society in the time of Covid-19 pandemic- and third, the role of the socio-religious perspective in identifying and providing recommendations to the phenomenon of risk society that occurred from the causality between Covid-19 as a pandemic and Covid-19 as a result of the reproduction of information. This socio-religious perspective can be an alternative strategy in understanding the dynamics of risk occurring in society

Abstract

Decision making has 3 dimensions of consequences, namely survival, mental and emotional. These three dimensions are the center of human fear and awareness. If humans can use it, new knowledge, wisdom and spirit will emerge that are useful for the development of human evolution.

Some decision making techniques are snapshots or photographing conditions at certain times. For example, what choices can a person make to get a certain nominal income, or what choices should a company make to increase turnover in the next 3 months, what options can be done to make cost efficiency, etc. Usually these decisions also require complete information. Unfortunately there are always incomplete things in the information obtained so that there is always a dimension of uncertainty in every decision making. Many costs are spent just to get information, whether it is in the form of questionnaires, surveys, direct observations and other methods. MSMEs or entrepreneurs who are starting a business with very limited capital usually do not have sufficient funds to conduct such information searches. The limitations of internal resources can also be one of the obstacles. Adaptive decision making will bridge these limitations.
