Abstract
This research explores integrating culture, arts, and identity in Civic Education in schools and communities. Using an ethnographic approach, the study observes and analyzes how cultural elements and arts shape students^ civic identity and help them place themselves in a pluralistic society. Data were collected through classroom observations, interviews with teachers, principals, students, and community leaders, and analysis of teaching materials and related art projects. The results show that arts and culture have an important role in helping students understand and internalize the concept of citizenship, both at school and in the community. Art projects such as fine arts and theater performances are used as pedagogical tools to convey citizenship values. In addition, the recognition and appreciation of students^ cultural identity in the citizenship curriculum helps to increase students^ sense of pride and connectedness to their identity. The research also found that arts and culture help develop a more inclusive and diverse civic identity and enable students to better appreciate differences in a multicultural society. However, despite this, the study identified some challenges in the integration of arts and culture into Civic Education, such as limited human resources and time, as well as resistance from some teachers.
