Simplification of Product Design to Enhance Sustainability in the Product Service System (SPSS) Ahmad Nur Firmansyah, Bambang Iskandariawan
Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember
Abstract
Many donation programs still follow the linear economy (LE) business model, resulting in donated products being limited to the intended recipients without returning to the manufacturer or distributor for repair, maintenance, or product enhancement. This situation has the potential to give rise to fresh sources of waste when products can no longer be reused and are immediately disposed of by users. The research goal is to simplify innovative products to strengthen the connection between products and sustainable services, thus establishing a circular economy (CE) using the product service system (PSS) business model. The method employed is design thinking, which is divided into four stages. The initial stage entails analyzing products available for sale, followed by showing empathy towards users, manufacturers, and distributors. Subsequently, in the defining stage, product design specifications (PDS) are formulated, followed by prototyping, and concluding with testing. The research results concentrate on the requirements of users, manufacturers, and the qualitative amalgamation of product-service in the form of product design specifications (PDS) that have the potential to impact the development of a more efficient sustainable product service system (SPSS).

Analyze the Relationship Between Sense of Place and Behavioral Culture Endry Salsabila Sampurno (a*), Susy Budi Astuti (b*)
Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember
Abstract
Sense of place is a theory that originated in the field of humanistic geography and is currently developed in various academic disciplines, such as environmental psychology and architecture. The definition of sense of place itself is the process of the relationship between humans and a place, resulting from a complete perception of environmental conditions, both the physical and social settings that provide an experience of that place. Sense of place has three primary parameters: physical setting, meaning, and activities. However, these three parameters are no longer relevant to the current situation because the factors contributing to the sense of place are not solely based on these three parameters. After reviewing literature and data, researchers have found that in some places, one of these parameters of the sense of place may not be considered, yet some of the community still perceives that place as having a strong sense of place. This is driven by the evolving behavioral culture of the community. Even a person^s background and birth year can be reasons for this. Gen Z and millennials, with their fast, efficient, and instant behavioral culture, may have different perceptions of the sense of place in a location compared to Gen X and baby boomers, who tend to prefer more traditional elements. Through the analysis of various literature reviews that have been gathered, researchers will analyze and present the results in the form of a bubble diagram illustrating the relationship between the sense of place and behavioral culture.

Department and Graduate School of Digital Media Design , National Yunlin University of Science and Technology
Abstract
In recent years, global education trend is based on cultivation of interdisciplinary talents, encouragement for teachers and students to enter the communities and reinforcement of relationship between university education and local communities to trigger more possibilities of social innovation and fulfill University Social Responsibility (USR) as the overall objectives of instruction. Besides, nowadays, rural life style is changing and it intends to transform aging rural life with declining communities. Design is originally designers^ complicated and diverse thinking activity in order to solve problems. In modern time, due to changeable environmental factors, designers^ one-way problem-solving can no longer achieve the goals. Therefore, based on participatory design and by interdisciplinary and cross-school curriculum and community residents^ cooperation, this study analyzes interaction among related personnel in instructional situations in order to develop rural local cultural characteristics and design value added products.
By double-teacher (teacher and designer) curriculum structure, participatory design workshop, participant observation and interview, this study analyzes interaction in overall teaching process. According to research findings, (1) in terms of design progress, problems encountered by rural community can be discovered and solved by participatory design of ^Three-Three Model^. It includes three types of related personnel, such as community residents, teachers & designers and students of different fields and three phases of development, such as study of cultural and historical data and field problems of the first stage, problem definition and design development of the second stage and design proposition and evaluation modification of the third stage. (2). In terms of instructional process, this study proposes ^KM-4D-E^ instructional model, including theoretical knowledge and methodology construction (KM-Knowledge & Methodology), field observation experience (1D-Discover), problem discovery and definition (2D-Define), design thinking and creativity development (3D-Develop), design execution and manufacturing (4D-Deliver) and finally proposition and evaluation (E-Evaluation), which are introduced in instructional situation of rural community design. Subsequently, this study will continue the research and analysis by the concept of action study as the criteria to modify participatory design model based curriculum instruction.

Abstract
Many exhibition spaces, such as museums, galleries, theme parks, and exhibitions, use audio-visual devices to enhance the presentation of their collections. These devices include display monitors and speakers that supplement the artifacts or content on display. The audio-visual devices can attract more visitors, but they also change visitor movement pattern and increase the ambient noise levels. How does this affect the design and experience of exhibition spaces with audio-visual elements compared to those without them?
This study aimed to investigate the differences in visitor circulation patterns and acoustic environments in 16 museums and public exhibition spaces. The methods used were photographic recording, sketches, and observations for circulation patterns, and simple single-point acoustic measurements for background noise levels. The results showed that exhibition spaces with audio-visual elements tend to have longer and more linear circulation paths to accommodate more visitors, and higher background noise levels than those without audio-visual elements. This study provides useful data for designing exhibition-type buildings, especially those that use audio-visual devices, which are likely to become more common in the future.

Abstract
This research aims to determine the relationship between facial physiognomy, body shape, costume shape, and color, and gestures with the character design of the Silat Warrior characters in the book The Art of Wiro Sableng 212 Warrior. This book is a collection of production designs for the film Wiro Sableng: Kartur Kapak Naga Geni 212, one of the Indonesian Silat films in 2018. The Art of Wiro Sableng book is a collection of the results of the character interpretation process of characters from the novel which are then realized in the form of character designs. The stage of determining character design is very important in the pre-production process before moving on to the film production stage, especially in selecting talent. The approach used is interdisciplinary, considering that in character design, a combination of visual elements needs to be approached using different theories. The theories used in this research are physiognomy from Ar-Razi and Naomi Tickle to obtain character traits from the face, personality theory through somatotypes from Sheldon to find the character through body shape, and visual analysis of costumes and gestures. The result is a match between the character played and the five reference elements. An interesting thing that was found was that the application of costumes and weapons in the character design of warrior characters, which were different from one character to another, could strengthen their characteristics. These figures seem to show off a variety of martial artists who vary in their weapons and clothing in Indonesia.

ESMOD Jakarta, Creative Polytechnic Indonesia
Abstract
This research studies the exploration and modernization of Indonesian kebaya from a visual perspective. One way to modernize and explore Indonesian Kebaya in this study is to combine it with the Gothic style. The mixing of these 2 elements, aside from being an innovation, is also a form of preserving the existence of Kebaya, both nationally and internationally. Gothic style is one of the fashion styles that is still found popular among the younger generation. Kebaya and gothic style have similarities in history, both being the symbols of women^s resistance and independence in the past. Meanwhile, visually, Kebaya and gothic style have similarities in materials such as the use of lace fabric and body-fitted silhouettes. Apart from that, the exploration of the Kebaya and gothic style which is often identified with women means that the modernization of the Kebaya with gothic style can also be a representation of women^s empowerment. This practice work uses a qualitative research method. The qualitative research method was conducted using literature review, trend research, and design as well as material explorations. This practice work results in a collection consisting of 10 designs with 4 product realizations. The collection consists of Kebaya tops, pants, skirts, bralettes, and corsets, dominated by black and fitted body silhouettes combined with metallic hardware accents and accessories on lace and denim fabric. With this collection, it is hoped that the preservation of Kebaya as an Indonesian culture can go alongside today^s pop culture so that the existence of Kebaya could continue to be relevant in an increasingly modern and developing world.

Management Department, BINUS Business School Doctor of Research in Management, Bina Nusantara University, Jakarta, Indonesia, 11480
Abstract
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to comprehensively examine references to research on the sustainable cement industry from 1996 to 2023. This study will specifically examine the development trend of sustainable cement industry research based on Scopus data. This study employs qualitative research combined with the literature review technique. This study makes use of publication data containing the keywords sustainable cement industry from 1996 to 2023 that were extracted from the Scopus database using the web crawling technique. The findings of this research indicate that the sustainable cement industry^s growth development has accelerated significantly. Moreover, development maps based on co-occurrence and keywords are clustered into six primary groups. One of the issues that is deemed to require attention, particularly in the Indonesian context, is the influence of several marketing factors, such as distributor relationships, price & promotion, and brand equity, in order to comprehend customer satisfaction and the repurchase factors. One of the reasons for this is that academicians and researchers have not conducted extensive research on this topic. On the other hand, marketing-related information is required by stakeholders within the cement industry. In the context of a sustainable cement industry, both internationally and nationally, such as in Indonesia, this topic is still infrequently researched and empirically demonstrated. The research is limited by the purview of the articles used, which were obtained from the Scopus database. In the future, in addition to research with broader literature sources, the recommendations in this study can be used as hypotheses and in-depth, comprehensive follow-up studies. The results of this research are anticipated to serve as a resource for scholars interested in studying the sustainable cement industry.

Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology Surabaya (ITS)
Abstract
East Java is a province that has the largest area of sugarcane land compared to other provinces, but the productivity of sugarcane always decreases every year, resulting in a decrease in the amount of raw material for sugarcane milled by sugar factories. In addition, as many as 28 sugar mills are operating in the East Java without being accompanied by increasing area of cane cultivation, making competition for the supply of cane increasingly stringent. The system of direct purchasing has been implemented by sugar factories. The risk of sugarcane quality and the performance efficiency of the sugar factory which is shown as an overall recovery (OR) value. Therefore, an analysis is needed to examine the variables that affect the performance of sugar factories so that the partnerships formed with farmers can be sustainable in the future and the sugar factories get proper quality according to the purchase price of sugarcane. The novelty of this research is getting the partnership model that not only provides incentives to farmers, but also the performance of sugar factories to process the raw materials supplied by farmers. Researchers have analyzed the performance of sugar mills by combining the soft system methodology (SSM) and response surface methodology (RSM) with the result that the performance of sugar factories is influenced by the value of sugarcane pol, brix and yield. Optimal performance sugar factories are obtained at pol values of 12% - 14%, brix at least 16%, sugarcane yield of 8.0 - 8.5%.

Abstract
After giving birth, the process of maternal care still continues. Keeping tabs on women^s mental well-being is more than ever to be of paramount importance to a conducive surrounding needed for both the mother and her baby. Neglecting the mother^s emotional health can produce certain negative side effects starting from Baby Blues (postpartum depression) to the extent of physical bleeding. Consequently, these side effects need to be mitigated by society adopting the proper knowledge on the matter. Sadly, today^s practice of treating mothers during this period may differ due to cultural varieties across nations. Indonesia is home to thousands of cultures, that being said, Javanese and Chinese are two ethnicities that populate Java Island. Both have their ways of caring for mothers during postpartum. However, many cultural practices have been concluded to be misconduct in the mother^s care. Among many mistreatments, the urge to be completely immobile is still encouraged in these two cultures along with some irrational taboos. In the dawn of Artificial Intelligence (IoT), mothers can benefit from the use of technology. AI has the potential to be an epoch-making development in maternal care. By utilizing researched medical findings and interviews, it is found that AI can help to alternate society^s belief towards old postpartum care traditions.

Abstract
This study aims to fill in the gaps in previous studies regarding the impact of using coal energy on the accumulation of carbon emission at the global level. The novelty of this research is to create a model for controlling carbon emission through the substitution of coal energy to solar energy and the role of green economic growth in coal exporting countries (Indonesia and Australia) and coal importers (China) during 2023-2030. The forecasting model analysis is based on panel regression for the period 2008-2022. Meanwhile, for the 2023-2030 a forecasting analysis is carried out by applying a model of decreasing coal consumption (pessimistic, moderate and optimistic), in which each of these models will be substituted by solar energy. The findings for the panel regression found that solar energy consumption and green economic growth contribute significantly to reducing carbon emission, while coal consumption actually increases carbon emission. Furthermore, the average rate of increase in carbon emission for the 2023-2030 in each forecasting model is 6.73 percent for pessimistic, 4.16 percent for moderate and 1.18 percent for optimistic. Then, only in the optimistic model will the energy mix condition be dominated by solar energy, starting in 2026. This study recommends that coal exporting and importing countries apply an optimistic model through the development of solar energy to replace coal energy in achieving the lowest carbon emission growth rates, so as to create harmonization between ecological, economic and social integration.

Abstract
ABSTRACT
Purpose - this research aims to explore the factors that influence the intention of muzakki (zakat payers/donors) to pay zakat through Financial Technology (Fintech) applications by examining risk perception theory, Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), Perceived Behavior theory (TPB), altruism and empathy.
Design/methodology/approach - The Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) technique is used to analyses data obtained from arranged surveys completed by 150 purposefully selected respondents.
Findings - Donors do not view perceived risk as a primary factor influencing their decision to pay zakat and donate through fintech. Moreover, the findings indicate that altruism and empathy play a significant role in determining the intention to pay zakat through fintech.
Practical implications - This research is consistent with the government^s efforts to promote the development of a sharia-compliant economic and financial environment, particularly in the management of Islamic social funds. If this philanthropic fund is optimally managed, sustainable development goals (SDGs) such as the eradication of poverty and the reduction of inequality will be achieved.
Originality/value - This research contributes to the development of literature on the acceptance of fintech technology for social funds and zakat payments by introducing the concept of risk perception, that are derived from five perceived risks including privacy risk, legal risk, time risk, psychological risk, and security risks.

Nature, Land, and Sustainability : Exploring the Livelihood Strategies of Local Community and Development of ^Miliarder Village^ Tuban Regency, Indonesia Deti Rahmawati 1 - Endang Susilowati 2
Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember
Abstract
The sustainability of rural people^s lives is highly dependent on the availability of natural resources. Nature, soil, and environmental sustainability need to be managed for the sustainability of people^s lives and livelihoods. This study tries to elaborate on the livelihood and life assets of the community after the phenomenon of ^milarder village^ because of the loss of community agricultural land. The research method used in this study is quantitative with purposive sampling techniques to represent villages affected by industry in the Jenu sub-district. Popolation in this study are farmers and fishermen. Primary data was obtained from a survey with a sample of 30 people. The loss of land makes the environmental ecosystem and the sustainability of the lives of the people of Tuban Regency experience significant transfiguration. The variables in this study are 5 sustainable livelihood capitals including: human capital, natural capital, social capital, financial capital and physical capital. Social capital is the capital with the highest value (value 14.78) in the study area, the community has social values such as high gotongroyong and community organizations that run actively. Financial capital ranks as the second highest value (value 14.70), this is because after land acquisition, many people have compensation money with a high value, making people^s savings high. After losing land, many people chose to change professions and even moved to other villages and other districts. Strict assistance is needed after the compensation money is given, this is due to the low financial literacy of the community, so that buying the results of the compensation into consumptive goods makes survival strategies weak and requires extra assistance.

Abstract
Dam construction aims to improve the community^s welfare and prosperity by developing agricultural sector and providing food security, power plants, water supply, and recreational facilities. However, dam construction is frequently beset by thorny issues, one of which involves land acquisition and resettlement, namely the loss of residential areas and the conversion of land function, necessitating the relocation of communities. Changes in the new living environment can trigger changes in socio-cultural, economic, and sustainable livelihoods, calling for adaptation to the environmental and social conditions of the new location. This case study seeks to identify priority obstacles and strategic solutions for ensuring the welfare of relocated communities in Tritik Village and Sambikerep Village - Rejoso District, Nganjuk Regency - East Java Province, as a result of land acquisition and resettlement for the construction of the Semantok Dam. This study also illustrates how resettlement altered the sociocultural and economic conditions of the local community. This study employs the Analytical Network Process, which relies on the opinions of purposefully selected experts. In order to ensure the well-being of the local community following relocation, the results identified a number of priority issues and strategic solutions. The results also indicate that the economic conditions of the post-relocation community are more prosperous and the community is able to live sustainably in comparison to the pre-relocation circumstances.

Digital Society^s Perception of Charismatic Authority in Indonesian Political Landscape: An Examination of YouTube^s User Comments Aurelius Ratu, Tri Dani Widyastuti, Ni Wayan Suarmini, Mohamad Syaifullah, Choriul Mahfud, Wahyudin
Department of Development Studies, Faculty of Creative Design and Bussiness Digital, ITS
Abstract
This research constitutes a comprehensive examination of user interactions with YouTube videos centered around the process of selecting presidential candidates, spanning from July to August. This analytical endeavor leverages Weber^s established framework of political authority, which encompasses three distinct categories: traditional, charismatic, and rational-legal authority. The study^s findings reveal a discernible predilection among users for charismatic authority, thus illuminating a prevailing inclination towards leaders who possess charismatic qualities. This pronounced proclivity towards charismatic authority carries profound implications. Firstly, it underscores a collective yearning for political change, indicating a sentiment of dissatisfaction or disillusionment with the existing political landscape. Moreover, the discernible sense of uncertainty and crisis evident within specific user segments, as reflected in their engagement within the comments section, signifies a broader societal context characterized by turbulence and unrest. The significance of these findings extends beyond mere academic inquiry. They offer valuable insights for prospective presidential candidates seeking to navigate the intricacies of modern politics. Understanding the user-generated appeal for charismatic leadership becomes a strategic imperative, enabling candidates to craft their political narratives and campaign strategies more effectively. It provides a unique vantage point into the evolving nature of political leadership, shedding light on the qualities that resonate with contemporary digital citizens. However, this research is merely the inception of a broader exploration. A deeper dive into the phenomenon of personalized charismatic authority and its potential to fuel the rise of populism emerges as a pertinent avenue for subsequent research.

Perceived Fairness in Disciplinary Procedures in Public Institutions: An Application of Hot Stove Rule Dr.Sobia Hassan
Department of Public Administration
Lahore College for Women University, Lahore, Pakistan
Abstract
Purpose-
This study seeks to examine the perceived disciplinary procedure of public sector employees that is a fundamental feature of human resource management. Discipline is mandatory for both employees and the organization. It enhances the ability of employees to perform according to the rules and norms established by the organization. Disciplinary processes act as a remedial measure not to penalize but to modify behavior and to keep the work standard at a more accurate level. Analysts generally assert that public employees have better job security than private sector employees and, in fact, that employers cannot terminate public employees who perform below average or who engage in misconduct. Disciplinary actions and dismissal are not easy for supervisors to carry out due to the stress associated with such situations and supervisors avoid taking action. The ^hot stove rule^ is a management concept coined by Douglas Murray McGregor. This rule warns people of being burned by touching a hot stove. Application of this rule in the workplace indicates that employee discipline is also like what happens when an employee touches a hot stove. The touch of the hot stove informs the employee that it is hot and the employee receives the instant punishment that is ^^impersonal^ (that the violator gets the punishment) and ^consistent^ (that disciplinary action is taken every time the violation is committed). The disciplinary actions that are taken include instructions and guidelines for correction leading to punishment to modify human behavior.
Design/methodology/approach -
The current research is centered on the theoretical underpinnings of phenomenology, which comprises methods of data collection and analysis. Phenomenology is the most appropriate approach to study human experiences confronted with disciplinary actions because the lived experiences and the underlying phenomenon can be very elaborate. A qualitative study design was applied to develop an understanding of perceived disciplinary justice, and the procedures behind key areas of disciplinary policy in the public sector.
Non-probability technique was utilized to gather the data through the snowball technique. Subjects were asked to suggest people who met the criteria and who they believed would be agreeable to contribute in the study. A criterion was made to include interview participants who are currently working in Public Sector University- and have gone through a disciplinary procedure- agree to a personal interview and allow responses to be recorded on tape and agree to review the transcript for truthfulness.
A total of 14 semi structure interviews were conducted, lasting 60 minutes each, with clerical staff (BPS-5 to 15) who have gone through a disciplinary procedure. Each interview was read carefully and transcribed verbatim and categorized by interviewee number. The thematic analysis was carried out guided by phenomenology to search for reality through the lived experiences by employees. Open coding was generated by collecting codes on prospective categories and themes.
Findings-
The results showed that employees experienced disciplinary action as hectic and discriminatory. However, employees demanded to have a proper channel for a review appeal. The qualitative data analysis of the present study has revealed several suggestions that were made for a fair disciplinary procedure: the application of red-hot stove rule, a positive approach to discipline, counseling therapy by leaders, and neutral grievance managing committee. It is also assumed that hot stove rule is the best remedy to avoid disciplinary actions.
Research limitations-
It has been recognized that there is a need of a more comprehensive research by means of other methods of data collections (qualitative and quantitative) to ascertain the real scope of the fair disciplinary procedure in the workplace and also to unearth the reasons behind any violation and misconduct.
Practical Implications- HR management must design effective guidelines for the implementation of positive discipline in organizations. The positive approach to discipline fixes disobedient employee behavior through support and top management. The positive approach philosophy ensures lasting positive employee behavior when discipline is handled without resentment. Some of the suggestions have been made in the light of the interviews for better implementation of the disciplinary procedures as: There must be a process time frame for the disciplinary procedure. The investigation must be completed expeditiously. There must be an adequate dissemination of the rules and standard operating procedures. A culture of positive approach towards discipline should be facilitated and followed in the organization. The ^red hot stove rule^ should be applicable in the organizations as a policy that focuses on early warning, consistency, timely and immediate action for all. Ethical training s must be given to all employees especially the new
