Abstract

The presence of Industry 4.0, along with the emergence of the Covid-19 outbreak, has brought radical changes to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Many MSMEs have experienced disruption due to shifts in lifestyle, work patterns, and business strategies, which resulted in a 94.69% decrease in sales during the pandemic. The Indonesian government designed Making Indonesia 4.0 to empower MSMEs to adopt digital technology to increase productivity, flexibility, and competitiveness. The adoption of digital technology is low among Indonesian MSMEs (12.5%). There are barriers among lack of capital, human resources, technology readiness, security to use, knowledge of the benefits, and unsure which technology to adopt. Cloud computing technology can be a solution for MSMEs that can offer products and services online, support planning and utilisation of shared resources, control processes, evaluate performance, enhance collaboration, and succeed in increasing sales by 163%. This study aims to examine the intentions of MSMEs on factors that affect the use of cloud computing and investigate its relationship to business performance. The research was analysed using the PLS-SEM method from questionnaire distribution data to 60 MSMEs. The results of the hypothesis analysis found that knowledge acquisition, sharing, perceived usefulness, ease of use, risk, and cost had no significant effect on behavioural intention to adopt cloud computing. Meanwhile, behavioural intention significantly affects cloud computing adoption and performance by improving productivity and flexibility. The research implications can assist researchers, owners/managers, and policymakers by offering valuable insights regarding cloud computing adoption decisions in MSMEs.

Abstract

The existing study aims to examine the herd behaviour in Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) as well as in all sectors of PSX. It has been observed that herding can lead to price stability and also it can result in inefficient markets. However, some researchers argued that herding can be the cause of inefficient financial markets. To achieve the research objectives, the stock price data of 528 companies listed in PSX has been gathered. The study has also focused on intraday, daily, weekly, and monthly aspects of herding. The Granger Causality approach has been used to investigate the presence or absence of herd behaviour in PSX and its sectors. The findings revealed that, the nature of causality was two-way i.e. from R2m,t to CSADt and CSADt to R2m,t, in Pakistan Stock Exchange and its few sectors, however, some sectors showed a lack of two-way causality, and few sectors depicted one-way association. Results demonstrated that two-way and one-way causal association between variables is generally experienced in short-run than the long-run. The research has some implications for policy makers.

Abstract

The weaving process is carried out by artisans individually or in groups and the number of woven fabric products produced is limited according to the amount of labour and production on request. Craftsmen do not have the creativity to modify or produce other motifs, if there is a modification only in colour. To increase production, it is necessary to diversify (enrichment) starting from raw materials, management, development of new motifs. Along with technological developments, marketing is carried out through virtual stores or e-commerce media and social media. Craftsmen offer distributors or designers woven products in the form of scarves, blankets or cloth. The distributor sells to the public in the form of whole fabrics, while the fabrics sold by designers are already in the form of clothes, shoes, bags, hats or other accessories. As for craftsmen who understand technological developments, sell directly to the public without intermediaries, but this has not been done on an ongoing basis and the information provided is not detailed and up-to-date. With the uniqueness of woven and has become a fashion trend in society, of course, product diversification (enrichment) is needed, development of manufacturing technology, improvement of management organization, up to marketing efforts, or diversification of new products by combining and developing designs of new woven motifs with fabrics or other motifs. . Expected results: Availability of a model for increasing product diversification and marketing of woven fabrics using a combination of dynamic systems and artificial intelligence.

Abstract

Branding is the process of conveying the message and value of a brand to the public as customers. Interior branding is one of various branding strategies, which specifically refers to the implementation of branding through interior spaces. Interior branding functions to communicate the vision of a brand into a space (which is generally commercial), where its application includes three main aspects, namely clear vision, unique story, and energy. This connection then creates an opportunity related to measuring the success of the branding process by implementing the interior branding itself. The method used is a Literature Review on international journal pages with references related to theories of interior branding, branding, and brand loyalty. The findings show that there are many aspects that can be indicators of the success of the branding process. In the interior branding strategy itself, brand loyalty theory is the most relevant to be used as a theoretical basis for a concept for testing the success of implementing interior branding.

Black Soldier Fly: Circular Economy for Sustainable Feed and Food in Indonesia
A R Sinaga a, I Kusumanti b, G Ayuningtyas c, P Sembada c, W Bachtiar d

IPB University

Abstract

Global food demand versus crop production disparity is a critical issue exacerbated by food loss, with developing nations contributing 0.4 billion tons to the 1.3 billion tons lost globally. In specific regions like DKI Jakarta, Depok, Bogor & Bali, daily food waste totals 4,864 tons, amounting to 1,775,360 tons annually. The need for human consumption of animal protein is influenced by the availability of fish meal. Indonesia^s annual 10.8 million tons of fish meal imports underscore this challenge. Therefore, a circular economy with the black soldier fly offers a sustainable solution for feed and food production. The paper provides an overview of the Black Soldier Fly (BSF) and its circular economy model as a potential solution, with a focus on feed availability to support meat production and uses in organic waste management. This study reviews papers that discuss the utilization of food waste from the hotel restaurant and cafe (horeca) sector and in optimizing the availability of protein-based feed using BSF. In this research, the terms ^circular economy,^ ^BSF,^ ^sustainable feed,^ and ^sustainable food^ are used to identify articles that have been published within the last ten years. Through the use of literature selection, papers are assessed throughout time. Stakeholder analysis and business model mapping were used to produce the study^s findings. Studies show that the management of organic waste generated from horeca food waste can make a profitable contribution to sustainable feed supply. This is reinforced by organic waste conversion rate data resulting from the utilization of horeca organic waste.

Abstract

High productivity is a corporate goal that must be continuously pursued, including at the Pantoloan Container Terminal - PT Pelindo TPK, Palu, Central Sulawesi. Operational conditions are faced with the problem of relatively low HR skills with limited resources and a high salary ratio. Realization of ship berthing time is often not according to a predetermined schedule. Facing these conditions the company must continue to make various efforts to continue to get good performance on an ongoing basis. Work system arrangement needs to be done to get optimal conditions. We conducted an assessment of the arrangement of the work system by using a Flexible Roaster or a flexible work arrangement, one of the alternatives that can answer this problem. However, it is realized that there will be other impacts that will arise with the work system with uncertain times, namely the impact on work-family conflict. Optimization of system change will be achieved if the Organization supports it, Organization restructuring needs to be done. With studies that involve these three aligned elements, optimal Corporate Performance is obtained.

Abstract

The present study investigated the impact of business location within the Indonesian context on corporate dividend policy. The variable representing the location in this study was defined as the geographical position of firms in Jakarta, the capital city of the state, as well as the firms located in Java, where the three major cities in Indonesia are located. The findings of this study revealed that companies located on Java Island had comparatively lower payout ratios in comparison to firms located elsewhere. In contrast, a lack of empirical evidence exists regarding the variation in payout rates among enterprises in Jakarta. Further companies located outside of major financial centers exhibit a tendency to distribute higher dividends to their shareholders, indicating the existence of heightened information asymmetry for these organizations. The findings remain constant even after doing several robustness tests, such as employing alternative measures for dividend policy, excluding the crisis period, and excluding the top and lower groups in the research sample.

Abstract

Circular economy has been stated as one of the tools to achieve a more sustainable future for Indonesia. As a result, circular packaging innovation has emerged and being adopted as a better packaging alternative by companies. This study aims to examine determinants of green purchase behavior in circular packaging using a knowledge - attitude - behavior theory and exploring whether gender plays a role in individuals inclination to engage in green purchase behavior when circular packaging options are available. The data are collected through surveys and analyze using quantitative approach. The results of the analysis indicate overall gender differences. The findings suggest that female consumers have significantly higher score in environmental (objective) knowledge and environmental attitude. Moreover, the finding also suggests that environmental knowledge has positive influence toward green purchase behavior only on female consumer, while environmental attitude has significantly positive influence to green purchase behavior in male consumer. This gender disparity may serve practical implications for marketing managers, for example, implementation of gender-targeted messaging and positioning for product using circular packaging.

Abstract

The film industry has undergone significant transformation due to technological advancements and shifts in consumer behavior. The original value chain concept was introduced by Porter (1985), and it has been widely adapted to represent activities within the film industry, including production, distribution, and exhibition. This study employs a literature review to uncover the evolution of the value chain and to use it as a theoretical framework in the film industry, which includes understanding the value chain dynamics, assessing competitiveness, adapting to digitization, and employing the concept of value networks. The methodology involves a structured search strategy across diverse sources, supplemented by snowballing, aiming to extract insights into integrating the value chain model within the industry. The findings demonstrate that the value chain concept signifies interconnections among different stages of the film industry, enhancing value creation and competitive advantage, with impacts on digitization and digital distribution. By recognizing the activities within the value chain, the film industry can strategically optimize its processes, adapt to evolving trends, and make informed decisions that increase competitiveness. By connecting theoretical foundations with practical implications, the findings of the study contribute to an enriched understanding of film industry dynamics, value creation, and competitive strategies, offering valuable insights to practitioners, researchers, and stakeholders.

Firm^s ability to innovate has become crucial aspect to gain competitive advantage, this also applies to traditional SMEs such as the bamboo craft SMEs. West Java province in Indonesia has enormous bamboo materials for diverse products and service sectors. Despite these potentials, bamboo craft SMEs in West Java faced various challenges and innovation gap to utilize the plentiful bamboo resources. This study builds upon the organizational learning and open innovation literature to overcome the challenges faced by bamboo craft SMEs in West Java and materialize bamboo^s potentials among them. Because there is little research on the topic of bamboo craft industry or the open innovation combines organizational learning literature for traditional SMEs, we collected qualitative data using semi-structured interview from three bamboo craft SMEs in West Java to analyze the main challenges faced by these traditional SMEs. The study reveals that traditional bamboo craft SMEs in West Java faced two main challenges, first, difficulty in new product development and, second, difficulty in process development. This study proposes a combination of organizational learning capability and open innovation to overcome these challenges. As a result, we suggest that learning and generating innovation based on three external knowledge sources will excel and have a positive impact on new product development and process development of traditional bamboo craft SMEs, namely supplier innovation, user innovation, and inter-organizational innovation. Based on our findings further research is required on fostering open innovation to improve human resource capacity to generate globally competitive products.

Department of Business Administration, National Yunlin University of Science and Technology, Taiwan

Abstract

The sudden arrival of the Covid-19 epidemic has changed people^s shopping habits. In order to curb the continuous spread of the disease, the governments of many countries have resorted to policies of travel restrictions or behavior restrictions, which have affected many industries. E-commerce platforms have become the main tool for people to shop during the pandemic. However, with the emergence of vaccines, the global epidemic situation has slowed down, and people^s lives have gradually returned to the normal track as before the pandemic. This research intended to investigate whether consumers still rely on e-commerce after the epidemic under different epidemic response measures. The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) pandemic response measures, e-commerce risks, e-commerce benefits, and consumer intentions were adopted in this research model. This research used confirmatory analyses based on the survey of 335 responses collected in this research. Significant government epidemic response measures are identified as epidemic prevention, crisis management, and response/ recovery measures. Further, their impacts on consumers^ perception of e-commerce were also found to be significant in this research. This research shows the importance of government response measures and contributes to the understanding of consumer shopping behaviors after the pandemic.

Abstract

In the last three years, the delivery and logistics industry has seen substantial growth, primarily due to the effects of Covid-19. Companies are focusing on minimizing shipping costs by implementing efficient strategies to reduce overall logistics expenses. One such strategy is clustering, which involves grouping regions or requests to transport goods to and from delivery centers. Clustering is essential for customer segmentation and location-based decision-making, as it allows businesses to improve efficiency, customer satisfaction, and profitability. This study has developed an algorithm that streamlines delivery by grouping work areas to make it more efficient and cost-effective. The research used two-dimensional time warping to consider flexible demand locations for goods delivery. The data consisted of two-dimensional delivery point location data. The method consists of three stages: 1) processing data on point distances, 2) clustering using two-dimensional time warping, and 3) validation through silhouette analysis. This research resulted in optimal and efficient demand clustering through location clustering with a Silhouette coefficient value of 0.7 or an accuracy and feasibility level of 70%.

Abstract

The current digital technology landscape has eased access for various industries, including the craft sector, which is beginning to adopt digital transformation in its business processes. However, the upcycling-based craft industry remains relatively underexplored. This industry involves repurposing unused materials or items to create products with higher added value. This concept aligns with government initiatives related to green industries and the implementation of a circular economy. The upcycling-based craft industry encounters challenges such as limited raw materials, product form exploration, skilled personnel with specialized skills, innovation, and product design development. This research conducts a literature analysis of the upcycling-based craft industry, focusing on five main variables: Digital Transformation (DT), Circular Economy (CE), Product Design and Innovation (PDI), Sustainable Value Creation (SVC), and Upcycling (U). The methodology employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR), sourcing 105 articles indexed in Scopus from ProQuest and Sciencedirect databases through identification, screening, eligibility, and inclusion phases. The results are analyzed using meta-analyses in NVivo 12 Pro, based on discussion focus and variable relationships in the context of the upcycling-based craft industry. The research findings highlight the significance of research needs in the context of digital transformation to advance upcycling practices. The integration of digital technology into the design, production, and distribution processes can significantly contribute to SVC and PDI. In conclusion, this study identifies potential areas for further research and fills the knowledge gap related to the potential of digital transformation in the upcycling-based craft industry, aligning with the evolving landscape of this industry.

Abstract

Scholars have proposed that to enhance pre-class learning readiness, effective pre-reading activities can be designed to augment the flipped learning approach. Debates are acknowledged as a potentially influential strategy to enhance students^ ethical reasoning skills. However, incorporating debates into pre-class activities poses a challenge for both students and educators. Research evidence underscores the potential of student debates in ethical education. Therefore, this study introduces an AI-powered online debate strategy to aid students in completing debate tasks within a flipped learning framework. To gauge the effectiveness of the proposed strategy, a Generative AI-Powered Online Debate System was developed and implemented in a university-level business ethics course. Sixty-two junior-level students were divided into an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group engaged in debate activities employing the AI-powered flipped learning approach, while the control group followed a conventional flipped learning strategy without the system^s intervention. Results indicate that the AI-powered online debate strategy effectively enhances students^ pre-class learning readiness. Moreover, students^ participation in online debates, compared to traditional flipped learning, showed no variance in their external cognitive load, while simultaneously enhancing their confidence in comprehending ethical concepts. This study adds to the evolving comprehension of the potential advantages of incorporating AI-powered strategies in flipped learning scenarios for ethical education.
