Simplification of Product Design to Enhance Sustainability in the Product Service System (SPSS) Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember Abstract Many donation programs still follow the linear economy (LE) business model, resulting in donated products being limited to the intended recipients without returning to the manufacturer or distributor for repair, maintenance, or product enhancement. This situation has the potential to give rise to fresh sources of waste when products can no longer be reused and are immediately disposed of by users. The research goal is to simplify innovative products to strengthen the connection between products and sustainable services, thus establishing a circular economy (CE) using the product service system (PSS) business model. The method employed is design thinking, which is divided into four stages. The initial stage entails analyzing products available for sale, followed by showing empathy towards users, manufacturers, and distributors. Subsequently, in the defining stage, product design specifications (PDS) are formulated, followed by prototyping, and concluding with testing. The research results concentrate on the requirements of users, manufacturers, and the qualitative amalgamation of product-service in the form of product design specifications (PDS) that have the potential to impact the development of a more efficient sustainable product service system (SPSS).
