THE PSYCHOSOCIAL IMPACT OF HYPERTENSION DIAGNOSIS IN ADULT PATIENTS: A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW Arif Nurdiyanto1*, Arih Diyaning Intiasari2, Siwi Wijayanti 3
Universitas Jenderal Soedirman
Purwokerto
Abstract
ABSTRACT
Hypertension is a non-communicable disease that often progresses silently but significantly affects the psychosocial well-being of adult patients. If unmanaged, it may lead to complications and decreased quality of life. This systematic literature review aims to explore the psychosocial impact of hypertension, both at the moment of diagnosis and throughout the long-term management among adult patients. The study employed a systematic review method, following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. Five primary quantitative studies published between 2015 and 2025 were analyzed. The review was structured into two focal points: (1) psychological distress experienced upon diagnosis, and (2) chronic psychosocial stress in adults living with hypertension. The results showed that individuals with high psychosocial stress had an 8.198-fold higher likelihood of being diagnosed with hypertension. Contributing factors included poor sleep quality, low physical activity, and lack of social support. Additionally, prolonged distress such as anger, depression, and past trauma was significantly associated with poor blood pressure control, nonadherence to therapy, and decreased self-care. Patients with uncontrolled hypertension had a sixfold increased risk of experiencing hypertension-related distress. These findings highlight the urgency of integrating psychosocial screening and emotional support into routine hypertension management, especially at the primary care level

1Department of Public Health, Faculty of Health Sciences, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman
Abstract
Malnutrition among school-aged children remains a critical public health issue in developing countries, affecting physical development and learning outcomes. This systematic literature review aims to synthesize quantitative evidence on the effectiveness and sustainability of nutritious school lunch programs in improving children^s nutritional status and academic performance. Using PRISMA guidelines, four primary studies published between 2015 and 2025 were selected from PubMed, Scopus, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar. The findings reveal that such programs significantly enhance body mass index, weight gain, and height-for-age, improving grades and reducing school absenteeism. Moreover, integrating locally sourced foods and active stakeholder involvement are key factors influencing long-term sustainability. Despite notable challenges such as limited infrastructure, human resources, and bureaucratic procurement systems, these programs offer strategic value in addressing the dual burden of malnutrition and educational inequality. Strengthening intersectoral collaboration and promoting adaptive policy frameworks are essential to enhance the scalability and impact of these interventions in low-resource settings.

Faculty of Health Sciences, Jenderal Soedirman University
Abstract
Hypertension is a chronic non-communicable disease that contributes significantly to the global burden of morbidity and mortality. Poor medication adherence among hypertensive patients remains a critical barrier to effective management. This study aims to systematically review the influence of community empowerment and self-management education on medication adherence among patients with hypertension. The research used the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method and followed the PRISMA guidelines. Articles were identified through Google Scholar, PubMed, and Scopus using keywords such as ^hypertension,^ ^self-care,^ ^self-management,^ ^medication adherence,^ and ^community empowerment.^ Of the initial 443 articles found, 336 were screened after removing duplicates. Through a rigorous selection process, only six articles met the inclusion criteria and were included in the final analysis. The selected studies were analyzed under two focus areas: (1) the effect of education and self-care management on treatment adherence, and (2) the role of community empowerment in improving adherence and patient education. Findings from Focus Study 1 highlight that structured educational interventions and enhanced self-care behaviors significantly improve adherence among hypertensive patients, mainly when supported by personalized interactions and social support. Focus Study 2 emphasizes the importance of community-based empowerment strategies, including family and social network involvement, which are critical in improving knowledge, motivation, and long-term adherence to hypertension treatment. This review concludes that self-management education and community empowerment strategies are essential in enhancing treatment adherence among patients with hypertension. SYSTEMATIC LITERATURE REVIEW AN ANALYSIS OF THE INTERACTION BETWEEN TOBACCO SMOKE EXPOSURE AND NUTRITIONAL STATUS IN THE INCIDENCE OF STUNTING IN INDONESIA Trisnawati1*, Budi Aji1, Suratman1
1Department of Public Health, Faculty of Health Sciences, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman
Abstract
Stunting is a global health problem rooted in various factors, including poor nutrition and an unhealthy home environment, one of which is exposure to cigarette smoke. This study aims to determine the interaction between cigarette smoke exposure and nutrition in the incidence of stunting through a systematic literature review. The literature review was based on PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines from a number of databases, including: Scopus, PubMed, Google Scholar, Research Gate, and Directory of Open Access Journal (DOAJ). After reviewing the articles, 8 articles were found based on the inclusion criteria. This literature review concluded that exposure to household tobacco smoke and poor nutrition synergistically increase the risk of stunting in children. Cigarette smoke interferes with nutrient absorption and the immune system, while poor nutrition exacerbates the impact. Therefore, stunting prevention needs to be done through a combination of nutritional interventions and control of smoking behavior in the family environment. However, further testing and research is needed to strengthen these results.

Abstract
Adolescents are increasingly exposed to social media, which plays a central role in shaping their health perceptions and behaviors. This is particularly significant for adolescents from broken home families, who often face psychosocial vulnerabilities and may use social media as an emotional escape. This study systematically reviews and analyzes the influence of social media exposure on health perceptions and behaviors among adolescents in Indonesia, with a focus on those from broken homes. A systematic literature review (SLR) was conducted using the PRISMA method on six quantitative studies published between 2015 and 2025. Articles were sourced from Google Scholar and PubMed using keywords in Indonesian and English related to social media, adolescents, broken homes, health perception, and health behavior. Results show that social media significantly affects adolescents^ physical, mental, and social health. Positive and educational content is linked to higher health awareness and adaptive behaviors, while exposure to toxic or unrealistic content is associated with stress, distorted self-perception, and risky behaviors. For broken home adolescents, social media may provide psychological relief and identity exploration, but its impact depends on digital literacy and content type. These findings highlight the need for empathetic digital health communication and supportive online communities.

Abstract
This study aims to explore students^ preferences for learning models used in field practice. The research employed a survey method involving students from the Physical Education study program who had previously participated in field practice courses. The research instruments consisted of questionnaires and open-ended interviews administered to respondents to measure their tendencies in selecting among various learning models. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative methods to identify the most favored learning models. The findings reveal that the majority of students prefer expository, project-based learning, and inquiry models. The expository model is considered helpful in providing clear procedures and direct guidance before the practice is carried out. Project-based learning is regarded as offering real experiences through the design and completion of projects relevant to field needs. Meanwhile, the inquiry model is valued for fostering critical thinking, exploration, and independent problem solving. These results suggest that a combination of explicit instruction (expository), real project involvement (project-based learning), and discovery processes (inquiry) can serve as an effective alternative strategy for field practice learning that aligns with students^ needs.

Abstract
The running habits, sociodemographic traits, and technology use among recreational runners in the Barlingmascakeb region are investigated in this study. The results indicate that the majority of recreational runners are male, young adults (less than 35), have a university degree, and work full-time. The majority of runners maintain a high training frequency, running six to ten kilometers each session more than three times a week. The majority of people actively participate in activities, going to two or four a year. Adoption of technology is noteworthy- the most popular gadgets are sport watches, which are followed by smartphone apps. The percentage of runners who do not use technology is quite low. Activity and technology use vary by region, with Cilacap and Banyumas showing higher levels than Kebumen, which shows comparatively lower levels. In areas where engagement is weaker, these findings point to ways to increase participation and technology use. The running experience can be further improved and a healthier lifestyle encouraged by programs that integrate accessible sports technology with community-based running efforts
