Abstract

The running habits, sociodemographic traits, and technology use among recreational runners in the Barlingmascakeb region are investigated in this study. The results indicate that the majority of recreational runners are male, young adults (less than 35), have a university degree, and work full-time. The majority of runners maintain a high training frequency, running six to ten kilometers each session more than three times a week. The majority of people actively participate in activities, going to two or four a year. Adoption of technology is noteworthy- the most popular gadgets are sport watches, which are followed by smartphone apps. The percentage of runners who do not use technology is quite low. Activity and technology use vary by region, with Cilacap and Banyumas showing higher levels than Kebumen, which shows comparatively lower levels. In areas where engagement is weaker, these findings point to ways to increase participation and technology use. The running experience can be further improved and a healthier lifestyle encouraged by programs that integrate accessible sports technology with community-based running efforts
