SYSTEMATIC LITERATURE REVIEW AN ANALYSIS OF THE INTERACTION BETWEEN TOBACCO SMOKE EXPOSURE AND NUTRITIONAL STATUS IN THE INCIDENCE OF STUNTING IN INDONESIA 1Department of Public Health, Faculty of Health Sciences, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman Abstract Stunting is a global health problem rooted in various factors, including poor nutrition and an unhealthy home environment, one of which is exposure to cigarette smoke. This study aims to determine the interaction between cigarette smoke exposure and nutrition in the incidence of stunting through a systematic literature review. The literature review was based on PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines from a number of databases, including: Scopus, PubMed, Google Scholar, Research Gate, and Directory of Open Access Journal (DOAJ). After reviewing the articles, 8 articles were found based on the inclusion criteria. This literature review concluded that exposure to household tobacco smoke and poor nutrition synergistically increase the risk of stunting in children. Cigarette smoke interferes with nutrient absorption and the immune system, while poor nutrition exacerbates the impact. Therefore, stunting prevention needs to be done through a combination of nutritional interventions and control of smoking behavior in the family environment. However, further testing and research is needed to strengthen these results. Keywords: Stunting, Cigarette Smoke, Nutrition, Child, Family Topic: Public Health Sciences |
