Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of teachers and parents in identifying sports talent in early childhood. This research was conducted as part of a community service program in Indramayu District, West Java Province. Method: This research is a quantitative descriptive study. The sample in this study were 39 teachers and 39 parents of early childhood children in Indramayu District. Data collection techniques were carried out using Google Forms using a questionnaire about parental support for children^s daily motor skills and a questionnaire about children^s motivation in carrying out motor tasks filled out by teachers. Data analysis techniques used descriptive statistical analysis. The research results shows that The role of teachers in exploring the potential and talent of sports in early childhood can be seen through four dimensions of observation, namely: enjoyment in activities, success in tasks, the presence of effort and sincerity, and the presence or absence of tension. The role of teachers in exploring the potential and talent of sports in early childhood is 87.46%. Meanwhile, the role of parents in exploring the potential and talent of sports in early childhood can be seen through four dimensions of observation, namely: emotional support, instrumental support, support togetherness, and informational support. The total role of parents in exploring the potential and talent of sports in early childhood is known to be 85.89%. This shows that teachers and parents of early childhood in Indramayu District have a fairly high role in exploring the potential and talent of sports in their children.The results of this study indicate that teachers and parents of early childhood students in Indramayu District play a significant role in developing their children^s potential and talent in sports. Teachers and parents of early childhood students need to have knowledge, understanding, and an open attitude toward gifted and exceptional children. Furthermore, the results of this study are a positive sign supporting the search for sports talent to identify potential athletes in the future.
