Large-scale adoption of these amendments can be limited by low financial support by
potential funding bodies, low outreach of relevant sectors to the public especially
farmers and agroprenuers, and also reluctance by farmers who have spent many
years practicing conventional farming to adopt more effective and sustainable
approaches to farming. To have an effective adoption strategy, this requires
involvement of academics, relevant government and private sectors, and practicing
farmers of those regions.
Depending on the nature of the additives, some can offer additional nutrients to the
amendments, some can help convert the substances in the amendment into more
available forms (so that these forms can be readily taken up by plants), while some
can act as sponges to hold the nutrients and release them slowly when needed (this
is useful in the event of heavy rain or when the soil has limited amount of that
nutrient).
