Abstract

This study, investigates the average imagery ability of athletes across different sports. This research contributes to understanding how athletes from various disciplines utilize imagery in their training and performance. The sample includes 39 athletes from the West Java PON, representing four sports branches: 7 kickboxing athletes, 9 archery athletes, 8 artistic swimming athletes, and 15 tarung derajat athletes. The data was collected over a two-month period (June to July 2024) using Google Forms. The research tool employed in this study is the Sport Imagery Ability Questionnaire (SIAQ). This study analyzes data using quantitative descriptive techniques with percentages. Based on the research findings, the average imagery ability of the athletes, both globally and across the separate subscales, falls into the good category. Specifically, the majority of athletes global imagery ability is in the somewhat good category, with 17 athletes (43.6%). Skill imagery ability is categorized as good for 15 athletes (38.5%), strategy imagery ability is classified as somewhat good for 15 athletes (38.5%), goal imagery ability falls into the good category for 15 athletes (38.5%), affect imagery ability is good for 13 athletes (33.3%), and mastery imagery ability is classified as good for 17 athletes (43.6%). In conclusion, the good category average in imagery ability among the PON athletes indicates that these athletes are likely benefiting from effective mental training.
