Abstract

Personal hygiene during menstruation is an important thing that must be implemented during the menstrual cycle. Suppose personal hygiene during menstruation is not maintained properly. In that case, young women have the potential to experience health problems such as vaginal discharge, irritation in the genital area, allergies, inflammation, and urinary tract infections (UTI). As many as 75% of women in Indonesia have experienced vaginal discharge once, while 45% have experienced it more than twice. This research aims to determine how effective 3D posters regarding personal hygiene during menstruation are as a health education medium. The research method used was Research and Development (R&D) through a pre-experimental approach with one group pretest-posttest. There were 95 seventh-grade female teenagers of SMP Negeri 13 Malang who participated in the research and were obtained using purposive sampling techniques. The research instrument uses a closed-type questionnaire with 10 items to measure knowledge. The 3D poster product received a media suitability percentage score of 95% for the media aspect and 92% for the material aspect, meaning it is very suitable for use. After the intervention, the results showed an effect of providing health education using 3D posters on young women^s knowledge regarding personal hygiene during menstruation according to the p-value = 0.000 from the Wilcoxon test. Personal hygiene education during menstruation must be carried out more frequently to increase young women^s knowledge.
