Abstract
Citizenship education is concerned with the concept of the ^ideal citizen^ and corresponding actions. New citizenship emphasizes teaching that recognizes young citizens^ civic experiences in a variety of social and cultural contexts. IEA Research in Citizenship Education focuses on policy development, national and international educational practice, and understanding the role of the good citizen. Based on the IEA study, this study uses a qualitative approach with content analysis to see the position of the IEA study for Indonesian Citizenship Education, especially the position of good citizens not only at the local and national level but also at the global level. Good citizens participate actively, obey the law, respect the rights of others, and contribute to the common good, showing empathy, tolerance, and responsibility. Indonesian education faces challenges in implementing education and creating a positive environment, including relationships with local and world communities and promoting a democratic culture. In the 21st era, education is the key to overcoming complex local, national and global challenges, requiring community involvement through democratic competence and a sense of responsibility. Education must be more than just the transfer of knowledge, involving students in the transformation into a democratic and responsible society in the digital era.
