Schools as Citizenship Laboratories in the Digital Era

Abstract

Schools have a role as a civics laboratory by utilizing digital technology in instilling national values in students. Students can play an agent role in spreading local culture and traditions through digital media by forming a national algorithm that is relevant to the modern era. The use and integration of technology in learning can be a school strategy in building a national algorithm. The purpose of this research is to identify the strategy of integrating digital technology in Pancasila education and explain the role of schools in shaping the national algorithm through social media. This research uses a systematic method of literature review that focuses on the implementation of citizenship by utilizing technology in the digital era. The findings of this study, first, schools that are able to integrate digital technology in civic education will significantly increase students^ understanding of national values. Second, through social media and digital platforms, generation Z can participate in digital-based civic activities by spreading regional culture, language and traditions. In addition, teachers can influence the formation of students^ national identities as facilitators of digital citizenship, especially in schools that have good access to technology. Third, students who receive digital-based civic education are more active in disseminating nationality content so that they can form a nationality algorithm to increase national and state awareness among social media users. This research has implications for teachers because it can be a reference in implementing digital technology integration strategies in civic education, especially to form a national algorithm.
