Abstract
Jakarta as a city with the largest population of citizens in Indonesia faces various problems including congestion, population and social gaps. Pancasila education should not only be a thinking education process but also an education of values and disposition and behavior because education on values, disposition and behavior is very supportive in shaping the character of the nation. This research aims to explain the role of Pancasila education in providing understanding and basic capital for the community to participate in building a city, namely Jakarta as a global city. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature study method. This method prioritizes the research process through text and discourse analysis. Then an empirical test of the civic education model that combines theory with practice to increase civic engagement. The results show that education that combines theory with direct involvement in social activities results in a higher level of participation among the community In conclusion, Pancasila education has a significant role in increasing the civic engagement of the people of Jakarta in facing global challenges and for the implementation of Pancasila education in schools and communities is by integrating Pancasila values in every aspects of people^s lives. Therefore, it is necessary to have policies that support the development of Pancasila education, both at the formal and informal levels, to achieve this goal.
