Abstract
This research discusses the importance of civics education in the digital era to support character strengthening for society. The method used in this study is to use the literature review method, namely by collecting, analyzing, and reading from various reference sources. References come from books and journals. Journal source search using electronic media. The subject of this research is more focused on the community. The results of the study showed that the influence of digital development as a result of the industrial revolution 4.0 had a very significant impact on society. To support the increasingly vigorous development of technology in society, it is necessary to strengthen character through citizenship education. The important role of civics education is currently being focused on considering that there are many outstanding cases due to a decline in morale among the people. Strengthening character education in the digitalization era is very important for the community to foster a much better moral attitude and not be easily carried away by the negative currents of the digitalization era. Due to the influence of technological developments in the current era, it has had a significant impact on everyday life. And if it is not balanced with strengthening the character of each individual, they will be carried away by the free flow of digitalization without limits.
