Abstract
Limited access to physical laboratories in distance education poses significant challenges for character development, such as moral values and social skills. This study aims to develop an effective digital character laboratory to address these obstacles, as previous research has highlighted the need for more comprehensive solutions despite existing technical and pedagogical challenges. The research used Thiagarajan^s Research and Development (R&D) approach, covering stages from needs analysis to product evaluation. Data were gathered through surveys, interviews, and focus group discussions (FGDs) with lecturers, teachers, and students, employing five stages of analysis: front-end, learner, task, concept, and instructional objectives. The findings reveal that digital character laboratories can effectively enhance character education by integrating interactive simulations and real-life scenarios. The framework developed combines adaptive pedagogical strategies with technology to create a more authentic learning experience. Digital character laboratories show potential for addressing character education challenges in distance learning by providing flexible and inclusive solutions. However, technical issues like device availability and internet access must be resolved to enable broader implementation. The study recommends designing digital laboratories with interactive content and a student-centered approach.
