Abstract
The research is intended to find the Effect of Virtual Field Trip Instructional Strategy on Performance and Science Process Skills Acquisition among Science Education Students in Kano University of Science and Technology, Wudil. Two objectives, two research questions and two null hypotheses were formulated. The population of the study is made up of all the science education students in Kano University of Science and Technology, Wudil. Quasi experimental research design was adopted for the purpose of the study- employing two groups (experimental group and control group). The instruments used for data collection are Science Education Performance Test (SEPT) and Science Process Skills Acquisition Test Questionnaire (SPSATQ). The sample of this study is composed of four subject combinations. The sample size is made up of seventy seven (77) students for the experimental group and seventy four (74) students for the control group. The data was analyzed using t-test for testing the stated hypotheses at 0.05% level of significance. The result showed that virtual field trip instructional strategy improved performance as well as the acquisition of science process skills among science education students in KUST, Wudil. It is therefore recommended that workshops, seminars and conferences should be organized for science education lecturers on the use of virtual field trip instructional strategy. In conclusion the study has shown that virtual field trip Instructional Strategy is an effective teaching technique in science education classrooms.
