Abstract
Hand line are commonly used by fishermen at Tarupa Fields to catch demersal fishes. This study aims to analyze the fishing ability of time performance of hand line to catching demersal fish species. This study was conducted by following fishing activities directly. The data collection involved six fishermen determined by purposive sampling method, as much as 10% of the fishing population in Tarupa Village. Calculation of time operation performance catch rate based on the comparison of the number of catches with the number of fishing that get the number of catches (kg). Based on the type of fish caught shows there are 21 types of fish caught obtained from a total of 541 fishing. The duration of operation time is distinguished by the duration of time that obtained the catch and the duration of operation time that did not get the catch. The results showed that the average time spent getting a catch was 16.2 minutes / trip. The average time of fishing operations that do not get a catch is 29.4 minutes. The difference in time duration suggests the chance of catching tends to be low based on the length of time the fishing operation of hand line. There were 60 fishing trips that got the catch and 96 fishing trips did not get the catch.
