Abstract

The behavior of friends with benefits (FwB) has become a popular phenomenon and harms adolescent health. One proof of the popularity of this phenomenon is the release of a film called Friends with Benefits in 2011 and has become a trend until now. This study aims to describe youths^ perceptions of FwB. The method used is an online survey and item analysis followed by an intervention in the form of a webinar. Samples were taken from as many as 130 people aged 18-25 years in Jakarta and its surroundings. The results of the analysis showed that more than a quarter of respondents considered that FwB was reasonable and almost one third had normal sexual intercourse with FwB. Most of the respondents are realize the effects of FwB such of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), addiction to sex, and reluctance to marry. Half of the respondents carried out sexual activities by respondents with FwB included kissing, touching the chest, and some of them continued with rubbing genitals, oral sex, anal sex, and sexual penetration. Some of them even agreed to abortion with the consent of both parties, agreed that before marriage the couple must have sex to show affection, and agreed to love one night. The practice of FwB has had a negative impact, one of which is the effort to end AIDS by 2030 as a national and global program. Education needs to be done to increase comprehensive knowledge about befriending behavior and health risks as well as the lack of HIV and AIDS knowledge in Indonesia.
