ACTIVE LEARNING: ACTIVE AND FUN LEARNING IN A PANDEMIC FOR DYSLEXIA STUDENTS

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to describe an active learning strategy designed by a special mentor teacher for dyslexic students. This type of research is descriptive qualitative with a case study design. The subjects of this study were special assistant teachers and dyslexic students at SDN 2 Sambimulyo. The results showed that the learning process carried out during the pandemic was in accordance with active learning indicators, namely student-centered learning, using interesting learning media, creating a pleasant atmosphere, problem solving, allowing for new perspectives on students, developing an open attitude to learning outcomes, involves physical, mental, and sensory activity. Some of the active learning strategies applied to dyslexic students are reading sentences on food wrappers as a fun and filling learning medium, reading picture books and retelling, crossword puzzles (TTS), life skills vs experiments that vary every week, and quiz vs. challenge students^ understanding.
