Abstract
This research focused on the strategies used by students At Universitas Muhammadiyah Sorong in comprehending analytical academic essay. The objective of the research was to find out the students^ reading strategies in comprehending analytical academic essay.This research used qualitative method and descriptive design. The participants were students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Sorong. Purposive sampling technique was used in this research. The researcher took only 5 participants. The interview was taken as the research instruments to find out the strategies in comprehending analytical academic essay. It was found that most students used reading strategies in comprehending analytical academic essay. The result of this research found that skimming strategies, predicting strategies, summarizing strategies, guessing the meaning of new word, and Rereading strategies were used in helping students in comprehending analytical academic essay.
