Abstract

To protect biodiversity, sustain natural resources, and support fisheries productivity, the government has reserved 338,323 ha of South Sorong waters as the marine protected area through Government Decree Number 523/2019. The MPA management has a bigger goal than only protect certain species and limit resources use, instead, it has a function to ensure that marine resources are maintained for the prosperity of the current generation and those of the future. Household monitoring is one option to measure whether the established MPA has been given social benefit to the locals. This research aims to collect data and information regarding the social at targeted household in MPA zoning. On top of that, this activity also assesses the impact of Seribu Satu Sungai Teoenebikia MPA^s development for two years by comparing the repetition data to the baseline data from the mentioned topics. The location of fisheries data collection was conducted in sevent Sub-districts located in the coastal area of of Seribu Satu Sungai Teoenebikia MPA. Monitoring household uses direct interviews method in SocMon Sea. Until the last survey, access to clean water provided from PDAM has not been installed, and this situation makes no difference from the initial condition as in baseline data. The interesting finding is that most community has started to use private well instead of the public well to access clean water. Fishing is still the most common main livelihood in this area.
