THE EFFECT OF THE PROJECT BASED LEARNING (PjBL) LEARNING MODEL ON THE UNDERSTANDING OF MATHEMATICS CONCEPTS AND CRITICAL THINKING ABILITY OF STUDENTS OF JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL 16 IN BENGKULU CITY

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) learning model on understanding mathematical concepts and students^ critical thinking skills. The type of research used is a quasi-experimental research conducted at SMP Negeri 16 Bengkulu City in the even semester of the 2021/2022 academic year. The sample of this study was class VII C as the experimental class and class VIID as the control class. The data obtained were then processed using MANCOVA. The results showed that there was an effect of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) learning model on the ability to understand mathematical concepts and students^ critical thinking skills together after controlling for students^ initial abilities, which was 78.7%, and the influence of initial abilities on understanding mathematical concepts and students^ critical thinking ability together is 56.5%.
