Abstract

This paper discuss the optimization of heat gain in vertical housing design for middle low economy, using rhino, grasshopper and ladybug simulation. This study aims to explore a vertical housing design that minimizes heat gain, optimizes view, and increases wind speed. The research method used is the experimental method. The research step : (1) to analyze microclimate and site condition, (2) to make model design simulation based on the site and microclimate, (3) to analyze of simulation results and design optimization, (4) Recommendations for optimizing design acquisition. The results showed the optimization of heat gain in the vertical housing design, namely a shape that minimizes East and West orientation, as well as a different modular design on each floor, with opposing shapes between floors so that it forms a shadow on each floor. This form of design in addition to reducing heat gain also increases the acceleration of wind flow.

Keywords: Optimization, heat gain, vertical housing, simulation
