The Eternity Of Melody And Lyrics Style In Music Clan
Rully Aprilia Zandra

Universitas Negeri Malang

Abstract

The domination of the Markasanan keroncong in the 1960-1965 era resulted in the perpetuation of musical elements and formations in keroncong in East Java. Chronological sequencing is necessary for mapping models in the cultural cycle. Causality between models is a mapping towards nomothetic concepts that might be found in the discussion. This research is focused on finding cultural cycles that occur in the keroncong genre of East Java. The researcher classifies the data on the development of musical elements related to East Java, and the use of East Javanese characters in the melody and keroncong lyrics. Valid data is presented again after being clarified with the literature regarding the concept of mimicry and hybrids. Clarification in each sub-discussion is carried out to find analytical answers that can answer the research questions that have been asked. This research finds that the melody and lyrics of the East Java keroncong orchestra songs are composed of the hybrid cultural assets of the songwriter. Hybrid musical content, which consists of local and imported capital, is perpetuated in a simultaneous and continuous cycle. The preservation of local and imported cultures takes place simultaneously, continuously, influences each other, and is identical. The same local and imported capital will continue to have its offspring as a musical clan.

Keywords: musical clan, hybrid cultural, songwriter, cultural cycle, keroncong genre.
