The disease pattern shift is an epidemiological transition, one of which is influenced by lifestyle, which can increase the likelihood of non-communicable diseases, such as diabetes mellitus, which continues to increase. Diabetes mellitus can cause damage to all parts of the body and cause death. There are some risk factors for type II diabetes mellitus that can be changed and some that cannot be changed. This study aims to analyze the risk factors for diabetes mellitus. This was an analytical study with a case-control design. The population was 62 patients who were assigned in the case group with diabetes mellitus and the control group who did not suffer from diabetes mellitus, consisted of 31 respondents respectively. Data were collected by interviews with a total sampling technique. Data analysis was conducted with the Chi-Square test. The results showed that smoking (p=0.44) OR 8.000, physical activity (p=0.045) OR 5.556 and obesity (p=0.038) OR 5.143 were found as the risk factors for the onset of type II diabetes mellitus, while age (p=0.066) OR=0.345 was not included as a risk factor for the onset of type II diabetes mellitus.
