Abstract
Local goats are important genetic resources in Indonesia due to their adaptability to tropical environmental conditions. Heat Shock Protein Binding Protein 1 (HSPBP1) is a co-chaperone associated with Heat Shock Protein 70 (HSP70) and plays a role in regulating cellular responses to environmental stress. This study aimed to identify polymorphisms in the HSPBP1 gene among Kacang, Peranakan Etawa (PE), and Senduro goats using the Polymerase Chain Reaction-Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) method with MspI restriction enzyme. A total of 115 DNA samples were analyzed, consisting of 40 Kacang, 35 PE, and 40 Senduro goats. PCR amplification produced a 597-bp fragment, which was subsequently digested by MspI, generating fragments of 487 and 110 bp. DNA fragments were visualized using agarose gel electrophoresis to determine restriction patterns and genotype variation. The results revealed polymorphism in Senduro goats, while Kacang and PE goats were monomorphic. These findings indicate genetic variation of the HSPBP1 gene among local goat populations and provide preliminary information for future studies on genetic diversity and adaptation related traits in Indonesian goats.
