Abstract
Climate-smart livestock production has emerged as a critical strategy for enhancing food security, improving farm resilience, and mitigating the environmental impacts of livestock systems in Southeast Asia. As the region faces increasing challenges from climate change, population growth, and rising demand for animal-source foods, understanding the development and direction of research in this field is essential for informing policy, research priorities, and sustainable agricultural practices. This study aims to systematically map and evaluate the scientific literature on climate-smart livestock production and its contribution to food security in Southeast Asia through a bibliometric analysis. Bibliographic data will be retrieved from the Scopus database using a comprehensive search strategy covering publications related to climate-smart livestock production, sustainable animal agriculture, resilience, and food security. Relevant documents published up to 2026 will be screened and analyzed using Bibliometrix (R package) and VOSviewer. The study will examine publication trends, leading authors, institutions, countries, source journals, citation patterns, collaboration networks, and keyword co-occurrence structures. Furthermore, thematic mapping and research trend analyses will be conducted to identify emerging topics, knowledge gaps, and future research directions within the field. The expected findings will provide a comprehensive overview of the intellectual structure and evolution of climate-smart livestock research in Southeast Asia. The study is anticipated to highlight major research themes, regional collaboration patterns, and priority areas that support sustainable livestock development and food security goals. By synthesizing the existing body of knowledge, this bibliometric analysis will serve as a valuable reference for researchers, policymakers, and development practitioners seeking to strengthen climate resilience and sustainability within livestock production systems across Southeast Asia.
