Preservice Teachers^ Readiness to Teach in the Sustainability Era

Abstract

To determine the direction of the teacher education curriculum. It is necessary to know the basic conditions of preservice teacher students by capturing aspects of motivation, self-efficacy, and sustainability awareness. This study aims to capture the profile of preservice teacher students in one of Indonesia^s Universities of Education. Using a Likert-scale instrument adapted from the literature. Two hundred thirty preservice teachers participated in the study, which used a survey method. Data analysis was conducted using MANOVA analysis. The results showed significant differences between the semester levels of prospective teacher students regarding teaching readiness factors, in this case, motivation, self-efficacy, and sustainable awareness. PSTE was the most significant self-efficacy subfactor (sig. <0.001, p<0.05). For the motivation factor, the subfactors that had significant differences were self-efficacy (sig. 0.009, p<0.05) and grade motivation (sig. 0.025, p<0.05). For the sustainable awareness factor, the significant difference subfactor was sustainable attitude (sig. 0.002, p<0.05).
