Abstract
Deforestation has become an ecological problem that has shocked the global community. This occurs not only due to regulatory imbalances but also the fragility of values-based education. This study aims to examine the contribution of forest waqf as an effort to raise students^ awareness of the importance of environmental protection, through the integration of Islamic values such as infaq, khalifah, and amanah (trust). This study used a qualitative approach in the form of action research, with students and teachers from madrasah-based educational units as subjects. The instruments used were observation, semi-structured interviews, and field notes. The results show that introducing the concept of forest waqf in the school environment can improve students^ understanding of nature conservation, both spiritually and scientifically. The process of photosynthesis in trees is analysed as a concrete biochemical mechanism for absorbing carbon dioxide. Meanwhile, the ethical values contained in the thematic interpretation of forest waqf encourage students to actively compete to protect the environment collectively. Forest waqf, with all its functions, demonstrates an effective innovation in developing students^ ecological and spiritual awareness. Therefore, this study recommends that this concept be part of the educational curriculum that supports the achievement of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) holistically
