Abstract

This study aims to analyze the mathematical creative thinking ability of junior high school students in terms of their level of self-confidence. The research employed a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The subjects consisted of 30 ninth-grade students from SMP Negeri 15 Bandung, selected based on their high, medium, and low levels of self-confidence. Data were collected through self-confidence questionnaires, mathematical creative thinking tests, and interviews. The results indicate that students with high self-confidence tend to exhibit mathematical creative thinking abilities categorized as highly creative. Conversely, students with low self-confidence demonstrate less creative abilities. Further analysis revealed that the fluency aspect achieved a highly creative category, while the flexibility and elaboration aspects were categorized as moderately creative. These findings affirm that self-confidence plays a crucial role in fostering students^ mathematical creative thinking abilities.
