The Role of Digital Documentation in the Revitalization of Ende Lio Oral Literature in the ^Pati Ka Du^a Bapu Ata Mata^ Ritual

Abstract

This study aims to analyze in depth the role of digital documentation in the revitalization of the oral literature of the Ende Lio community, which is manifested through the traditional ritual of Pati Ka Du^a Bapu Ata Mata. Oral tradition, as a form of cultural expression passed down from generation to generation, plays an important role in preserving spiritual, moral, and social values, as well as local wisdom of the community. However, the current of modernization, technological developments, and changes in community communication patterns have led to a decline in the interest of the younger generation in these oral traditions. This condition raises concerns about the loss of cultural knowledge that contains the identity and collective memory of the Ende Lio community. To address this challenge, this study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive ethnography methods to explore the symbolic meaning, narrative, and social function of oral literature in the context of traditional rituals. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with traditional leaders, cultural practitioners, and audiovisual documentation in the field. Data analysis was conducted using Sepretlei^s theory which emphasizes the relationship between language, culture, and technology in the preservation of intangible heritage. The research results show that digital documentation is not only a medium for cultural preservation and archiving, but also functions as an educational tool, interactive media, and a dynamic space for cultural expression. Through digital platforms such as Instagram, it is hoped that it can rekindle a love of culture and bring people closer to their cultural life.
