The Use of HSK 1 and 2 Storytelling YouTube Videos to Memorize Vocabulary in Listening Basic Mandarin (a,b) Mandarin Education, Faculty Of Languages and Arts, Universitas Negeri Jakarta Abstract This study examines the use of using HSK 1 and 2 storytelling YouTube videos as a pedagogical tool for vocabulary memorization and subsequent improvement in basic Mandarin listening comprehension among beginner-level learners. Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK) 1 and 2 storytelling YouTube videos as an enrichment resource to support vocabulary comprehension and mastery in listening basic Mandarin among university students. The research explores the learning experiences, perceptions, and observable outcomes when students integrate this type of multimedia content with curriculum. The study involved 81 students enrolled in the Mandarin Listening Level 1 course at State University of Jakarta (UNJ). Data were primarily collected through semi-structured interviews, classroom observation, and content analysis of student reflections. The thematic findings strongly indicate that exposure to HSK storytelling themes allows students to effectively integrate and master vocabulary from both standard lecture materials and the enrichment content provided by YouTube. This integration aids contextual understanding and long-term retention, positioning digital storytelling as a highly valuable complementary tool in foundational Mandarin education.
