QUALITY OF LIFE OVERVIEW OF MOTHERS WITH LOW BIRTH WEIGHT (LBW) BABIES IN THE PERINATOLOGI

Abstract

Background: A good quality of life for mothers can support the care of Low Birth Weight (LBW) Babies in perinatology. Mothers who are physically and mentally healthy and have social support can provide optimal care for their babies. The mothers mental and physical condition is interrelated with the mothers quality of life. Quality of life includes four aspects, namely physical health, psychological health, social relationships, and the environment. This study aims to determine the quality of life of mothers with Low Birth Weight (LBW) Babies in the perinatology room.
Method: This research used a descriptive quantitative research design involving 40 respondents, and used convenience sampling techniques. Data were obtained using the WHOQOL (World Health Organization Quality of Life) questionnaire, data were analyzed using univariate tests.
Research Results: The average age of respondents was 29.1 years with a minimum age of 14 days and a maximum of 27 days, and the majority of gestational age was premature, 57.5%. The majority of respondents had a high school education, 62.5%, primipara parity status 52.5%, 92.5% caesarean section delivery type, unemployed employment status 77.5% and low birth weight baby category (1,500-2,499 grams) 77.5%. The results of the mother^s quality of life are measured according to four domains, the physical domain has a good category of 70% and 30% bad, the psychological domain has a good category of 82.5% and a bad 17.5%, the social domain has a good category of 97.5% and a bad 2.5%, and the environmental domain has a good category of 97.5% and a bad 2.5%.
Conclusions: The quality of life of mothers with low birth weight babies in the perinatology room, the majority of the four domains are in the good category.
