The Effect Of Basic Wound Care Education With Pop Up Book Media On The Level Of Knowledge Of Elementary School Children

Abstract

Background: Wounds left untreated will lead to infection. But there are still many school children who are afraid to treat wounds because they are afraid of feeling sore or sick, do not know how to do wound care properly, feel good because they think the wound is not too severe where wounds that are not treated immediately that should heal instead cause infection. Health education about basic wound care is still rare, especially among elementary school children. An alternative medium for easily disseminating and understanding information to elementary school children is the pop-up book. Pop-up books have pages that create a three-dimensional, raised, or moving effect when opened, making them engaging for children.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to find out whether there is an effect of basic wound care education with pop up book media on the level of knowledge of elementary school
Methods: This study is a type of quantitative research, with the research design using the pre-experimental method which is one group pre test and post test design this study does not use a comparison group. The sampling technique used a total of 39 respondents of students and students in grade VI of SD Birrul Walidain Muhammadiyah Tanon. The measuring tool used in this study was a questionnaire on the level of knowledge of basic wound care
Results: The level of knowledge of elementary school children after being given health education has increased, this can be proven by the results of the analysis test using the wilcoxon test, the results of the p value of 0.000 < 0.05 and the Z value of -5,049 was obtained.
Conclusion: There is an effect of basic wound care education with pop up book media on the level of knowledge of elementary school children.
