THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN DURATION OF DIABETES AND SEXUAL DYSFUNCTION IN WOMEN

Abstract

Background: Diabetes is the most common disease characterized by increased blood glucose and
resulting complications in the liver, blood, kidneys, nerves and blood vessels. Diabetes can cause
several complications such as duration of diabetes is a crucial factor because over time, the disease
can cause damage to the nerves (neuropathy), blood vessels (angiopathy). Sexual dysfunction in
people with diabetes is often caused not only by the presence of the diabetes condition itself, but
also by the duration of time a person has diabetes.
Method: This study is an analytical with correlation anlysis method with approach taken is
crossesctioal. The sample using consecutive method with slovin formula. This research is
quantitative with the flow of respondents will be given a questionnaire based on questions from the
female sexual function index.
Result: the sig value (2-tailed) is 0.001, because the sig value (2-tailed) <0.05, there is a significant
relationship between the duration of diabetes and sexual dysfunction. The distribution of diabetic
patients who experience sexual dysfunction is divided into 6 domains of desire (14.3%), arousal
(8.6%), lubrication (22.9%), orgasm (12.9%), satisfaction (17.1%) and dyspareunia (24.3%).
Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between the duration of suffering from diabetes with
