Abstract

This research aims to see the influence of poverty levels, open unemployment and economic growth on the human development index in North Sumatra Province. This research uses panel data, namely a combination of time series data and cross section data and the object of this research is 33 regencies/cities in North Sumatra. In quantitative research, the type of data used is secondary data using the linear regression analysis method with a fixed effect model approach. From the research it was found that the level of poverty and economic growth had a negative and significant effect on the District/City Human Development Index in North Sumatra. Meanwhile, open unemployment has a negative and insignificant effect on the District/City Human Development Index in North Sumatra. Poverty Levels, Open Unemployment and Economic Growth can explain the Human Development Index of 99.43% and the remaining 0.57% is explained by other variables outside the research. The research results provide a basis for formulating more effective human development policies at the North Sumatra Province level. These policies should focus on reducing poverty, increasing inclusive economic growth, and strengthening initiatives to improve the quality of human resources.
