Abstract

This research aims to analyze PESP students^ needs for teaching materials used in learning Basic Physics courses, analyze students^ needs for teaching materials in digital form, and explore the needs for learning models that students need in the learning process. This needs analysis is a form of exploratory descriptive research. The results of this research will then be used as a reference in developing digital teaching materials. 40 students of the Medan State University Bilingual PESP Program were the research subjects. This research began by observing the lecture process for the Basic Physics course, then the researcher distributed questionnaires to research subjects via Googleform. Research data was obtained from initial observation activities and filling out a questionnaire regarding the digital teaching materials required by students. The results of initial observations show that students have difficulty understanding the material they are studying, this is also in accordance with the results of the student questionnaire on the indicator of helping to learn in Basic Physics Sub-Material, where as many as 24 students (60%) think that they experience difficulties in learning subjects. Basic Physics lecture. However, there were 34 students (82.9%) who felt enthusiastic about taking part in learning the Basic Physics course. The results of the questionnaire on the indicators of material presentation models in teaching materials, as many as 31 students (75.6%) believed that they wanted teaching materials whose presentation used a learning model that stimulated critical thinking and increased their ability to solve problems in the field of Physics. In the form of digital teaching materials, 38 students (92.7) stated that they needed digital teaching materials that could present pictures and videos so that students could more easily understand the material being studied. They strongly agreed and supported the development of case-based digital teaching materials in Basic Physics courses.
