Abstract

This study aims to determine social skills in children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD). ASD children in Taman Pendidikan Islam Special School have constraints on social skills, so children experience obstacles when interacting socially. Constraints on social skills can affect obtaining information so that children experience delays. This proves that social skills play an important role in relationships between friends and the surrounding environment. ASD is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by limitations when communicating and interacting socially, so ASD children need special attention in their education. This research is a type of qualitative research with qualitative descriptive methods. Data collection techniques used include participatory observation, in-depth interviews, thorough documentation and data triangulation. The results showed that the social skills of ASD children in interacting with their environment showed poor results.
