Digitalisation of Education For Sustainable Development (ESD) Learning through Hots Literacy-Based Literature Learning Design in Elementary Schools a) Indonesian Literature Study Programme, Universitas Negeri Medan Abstract This research is motivated by the lack of integration of Hots Literacy dimension in literature learning practice and teachers^ misunderstanding about HOTS concept. The development of Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) oriented learning is a programme developed as an effort to improve the quality of learning and improve the quality of graduates. This programme was developed by the Ministry of Education and Culture, and in 2018 has been integrated with Strengthening Character Education which emphasises the concept of 21st century education, namely, the scientific approach, and authentic assessment. For this reason, learning must refer to the four 21st century learning characters, namely critical thinking and problem solving, creativity and innovation, collaboration, and communication or known as 4C (critical thinking and problem solving, creative and innovation, collaboration, and communication). This research designs literacy learning based on literacy hots with the application of Reading to Learn (R2L) model and scientific approach, project base learning and problem base learning. The results of this study are expected to improve the learning outcomes of students in grade VIII of SMPN 14 Medan and increase literacy power and high level thinking power.
