The mediating role of entrepreneurial orientation: the impact of entrepreneurial knowledge on entrepreneurial intention 1234) Faculty of Economics, Universitas Negeri Medan, Medan, Indonesia, Abstract Students in Indonesia still have poor entrepreneurial intents, and their attitude after graduation is to hunt for work rather than create their own businesses.There has been little research on the elements that influence their entrepreneurial orientation. This research tries to examine the role of entrepreneurial knowledge on entrepreneurial orientation and entrepreneurial intentions as well as the mediating role of entrepreneurial orientation. This quantitative research used an online survey of 261 students at the Faculty of Economics, Universitas Negeri Medan. Smart-PLS was used to test the hypothesis and the Mann-Whitney test measures differences in entrepreneurial intentions and orientation among gender, educational background, experience and parental occupation. Research findings showed that entrepreneurial knowledge has a positive and significant role in entrepreneurial intentions. Entrepreneurial orientation has been proven to mediate the influence of entrepreneurial knowledge on entrepreneurial intentions. There were no differences in entrepreneurial intentions between genders, educational backgrounds, however there were differences between students with and without entrepreneurial experience. Furthermore, there are no differences in students^ entrepreneurial orientation between genders, but between educational background and parental employment.
