MAPPING OF FLOOD DISASTER RISK AREA BASED ON GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEM IN MEDAN CITY AREA Universitas Negeri Medan Abstract The problem of flood disaster in Medan City is very clear so that information is needed about areas that are prone to flooding. The purpose of this study is to determine the flood risk area using Geographic Information System in Medan City. This study uses spatial analysis of overlay, scoring, and weighting on several parameters including rainfall, land elevation, slope, soil type, land cover, and river network density. The results of this study indicate that most areas of Medan City are in the category of very vulnerable and prone to flooding, with a total area of --flood risk areas reaching 26,510 Ha. areas that are safe from flood risk are 2458.42 ha (8.04%), areas that are not prone to flood risk are 439.78 ha (1.43%), areas with a flood risk level of 12,213.13 ha (39.95%) and areas with a very high risk of flooding with an area of --15455.81 ha. With the total area of --the area, this map reveals that most areas in Medan City are in the category of very flood-prone (50.56%), followed by areas with flood-prone risks (39.95%).
