Strengthening of The Environmentally Caring Character for Students Through Learning Using the Field School Module

Abstract

The character of caring for the environment is an important character that children must have from an early age, considering that environmental problems have increased recently. The aim of instilling or strengthening this character is so that children will care about the environment more and be able to protect and preserve the environment where they live. Strengthening the character of caring for the environment can be done at school through learning using the field school module. This research aims to analyze the environmental love character of students at SD Inpres Sukamaju and SMP Negeri 5 Merauke located in Sukamaju Village, Merauke. Data collection was carried out using interviews and filling out questionnaires twice, namely before (pretest) and after learning (posttest) using the field school module that had been created. The research results show that there is a difference in the pretest and posttest results, namely the pretest score is 59.23 and the posttest score is 65.34 which is included in the environmental care category. The results obtained mean that students enjoy learning using the field school module and have succeeded in improving their environmental care character. This can have a positive impact on their attitude towards protecting and preserving the environment in a sustainable manner.
