Abstract

Merauke City has experienced rapid development in recent years. This was influenced by the Government^s policy regarding the New Autonomous Region in Papua, where Merauke was designated as the capital of South Papua Province. The increasingly rapid development of Merauke City has the potential to have an impact on reducing the quality of the urban environment. In creating a good urban environment in Merauke City, city development must consider aspects of urban design that are balanced between environmental, social and economic aspects. This study analyzes urban design elements that play a role in creating a sustainable environment on Parako street Merauke. This research uses data collection methods in the form of field observations and interviews. The analytical method used is qualitative descriptive analysis where the researcher acts as the main instrument in identifying, evaluating and analyzing infrastructure, land use, transportation and socio-economic aspects in accordance with urban design theory. It is hoped that the results of these findings can be used as consideration for the Government in formulating more sustainable urban planning policies on Parako Street Merauke.
