Toward a circular economy approach for integrated and intensive rabbit farming (a) Faculty of Agriculture, Jenderal Soedirman University, Banyumas, Indonesia Abstract Rabbit farming has significant potential for development in Indonesia. This potential is driven by the economic value of rabbits, the availability of feed, and the suitability of the climate, which collectively contribute to efforts in food and protein security. Rabbit farming also has the potential to be integrated with agriculture, thereby enhancing land productivity and farmer welfare. This study aims to examine the application of a circular economy model in integrated and intensive rabbit farming. The research employs a descriptive-qualitative method through literature analysis and case studies of several rabbit farmers in Banyumas Regency. The circular economy approach involves utilizing rabbit waste, such as manure and urine, to produce organic fertilizer, which can then be integrated into more complex agricultural systems. The results of this study are expected to produce a circular economy model for rabbit farming that extends the lifecycle of rabbit waste and transforms it into high-value economic products. The model from this research can serve as a recommendation to support the adoption of the circular economy model in rabbit farming in Indonesia.
