Open Space Configuration Pattern of Musamus University Area Using Space Syntax Method Departement of Arcchitectur, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Musamus Merauke 99600, Abstract Musamus University, a public higher education institution in Merauke Regency, South Papua Province, continues to grow with the increasing number of activities on campus. The university has planned development strategies to accommodate this growth, including the physical development of the area such as the construction of circulation networks (motorized and non-motorized), new buildings, and open spaces to facilitate spatial activities. The researchers find it necessary to review the existing conditions of the area in terms of spatial quality as a consideration and input for future planning and design. The aim of this research is to understand the open space configuration of the Musamus University area. This research employs a descriptive-quantitative method, supported by space syntax analysis, to assess the spatial quality based on spatial logic and the existing use of space at Musamus University. The results of this research indicate the presence of living spaces that tend to enhance spatial quality and dead spaces that tend to diminish the spatial quality of the Musamus University area.
